We stayed a block down from this wide stretch of beautiful beach. Each time I aviators it felt different. Large waves one visits, calmer and more swimmer friendly the next visit, and then loads of teenagers boogie boarding and families BBQing. It felt like a great neighbourhood beach with plenty of local parties being set up. There were showers and lots of parking. It really was a wicked beach and I’m grateful that our Air bnb was close. Everything I heard about the west side of Oahu was overinflated. Yes, there are some homeless, and yes there were a few druggies on the street, but everyone else said aloha and was open to a chat/ I felt no negative vibes, and would certainly visit again for a more local and authentic experience of Hawaii.

First beach in Hawaii for these first timers and WE LOVE MAILI BEACH!!! Sand feels wonderful & the walk is not far at all from the parking lot. Parking lot isn’t too big but there are other lots you can park in along the coast. It is off Fairington freeway, but there is enough space between the beach and park that your kids are safe from traffics. There wasn’t any garbage on the beach or park area that I saw, which is really impressive!! Not even sea weed. The area is nice and a lot of locals. We loved the weather, and boy was the sunset so perfect. Catching some waves on our boogie boards made for an evening these rookie tourists we’ll never forget! Thanks Maili Beach!

Stopped by to see the sunset... 2 stars for decent sand and the beautiful sunset. However, 3 stars deducted for each of the 3 rats I saw while trying to walk into the bathroom. That's correct, and I didn't even make it all the way into the men's room. Soooo gross. Also some sketchy people hanging out throughout the park. So many better options out there. Bad first impression, and I'll definitely never go back.

Beautiful roadside park with many picnic tables and lots of space. We visited mid-day and the park was quite empty and felt very safe. Stunning views!
