#WhEnWeLoVedUs #MaHaLoForTheMeMoRiEsJoSePhK #MyDiMpLes The suns rays reach to warm the white sand where it embraces the bluest of blue ocean waters. The shoreline slightly changes, as foretold by the ebb and flow of every tide. Grains of sand are pushed between my toes by the salty water As I slowly am pulled further into the ocean depths Waiting... to be noticed. Waiting for the life vest to be thrown out to save me... Waiting for that one lifeline that never would be offered. Slowly I see the shadowy outline of something or someone who was once familiar as my own skin.. turning and walking away without so much as a glance in my direction Walking out on the future, walking away from everything comfortable in life, Walking without seeing or caring for the only one who had given everything . Only to watch it be devoured then spewed out with lies and deceit. Blindly walking away to save face to persons that are nothing but negative, toxic...
Read moreThis is a bit of a hidden gem. The couple of times I've been here, there have been only a few other people or families. The beach is accessed by parking at Spencer beach (no parking fee) and taking about a .4 mile hike. The path is pretty good, we had no problem walking it in sandals and flip flops. It is basically flat with no hills, a very easy walk. You used to be able to get here by getting a parking pass at the Mauna Kea guardhouse and driving down. I heard that Mauna Kea was no longer giving access, but I have not verified that. The beach has beautiful fine sand and seems to be fairly sheltered from the shore break. There is moderately good snorkeling around the beach. I would say that it's a great beach to relax and have a good time without a lot of other people. There is probably better snorkeling and boogie boarding at other places. It is certainly worth checking out to see if it fits what you're...
Read moreThis beach has everything you need! Plenty of room to spread out in the sun, but many shady spots to avoid getting burnt, as well. We went here many times during our time on the Big Island, and it was never too crowded.
The surf was big enough for boogie boarding but not big enough for surfing. Perfect for swimming, I'd estimate the temp of the water to be around 75°F, just brisk enough to be refreshing after laying in the sun.
The water is absolutely gorgeous, and there are plenty of stops along the way from Spencer Beach, enough to have plenty to look at along the way, and to appreciate getting there. The most notable spot on the hike is the "wall of cats" (an old stone wall structure where all the local stray cats hang out).
Mau'umae beach has really nice sand, lovely views, and is fun to hike to (or you can obtain a parking pass from the nearby Mauna Kea resort, but there aren't...
