Homeless methed-out Boomers constantly harassing people for everything from attention to cash. This park has people living in it. Rubbish is starting to be everywhere. And this park has massive state and county traffic driving through wasting tax dollars and doing something between nothing and cutting down trees. Just more grift and corruption under the sleaziest county mayor and board we've ever had.

Edit: It's getting worse here and these recent reviews are full-on lies. This beach is a methed-out homeless camp. ReEdit: Now there's portos down here in addition to 2 working restrooms. More county grift. Most corrupt mayor in BI history. ReReEdit: And the county is renting out public property (ie WE own it) to groups who try to keep anyone else out. The current Big Administration is utterly corrupt and need to go to prison. ReReReEdit: And because of pure grift, county shut down the park for a week to do "maintenence" and now the power doesn't work and the bathrooms are flooded. Seriously, this is absurd and everyone should be fired and charged with theft of public funds. ReReReReReandfinalEdit: Was actually assaulted in Pavillion by 3 campers for minding my own business and asking to be left alone. Apparently, you can say you have a permit and physically assault anyone walking into the area because you own it and you're on meth, and though there's zero identification of that to let people know it's a rented meth zone. Honestly, this was a really nice place and corruption combined with entitled corporate ventures destroyed it. The only real hope for this park is to completely shut down camping and stop stealing from taxpayers by renting it out to private parties and businesses. It's a publicly owned park, not a...

05/03/2025 (Sat) When we visited, it seemed like there was a big group event going on — the place was super crowded, with long lines for parking and several staff helping direct traffic. But when we stopped by on another day, it was calm and peaceful, so I think it’s usually a pretty quiet spot. The beach has soft white sand and feels like a great place to relax. There were several clean private shower rooms and proper restrooms. I also saw a basketball court and what looked like options for boating, though I’m not sure if a permit is needed for those. There are plenty of picnic areas, including big covered tables (pavilion). Down a set of stairs, some local kids were fishing, and there was a shower nearby too. There’s a decent amount of shade, so it’s pretty comfortable.😊✨ The waves were fairly strong and the water didn’t look very clear, so it might not be ideal for snorkeling. I also noticed a few tents in the designated camping area. It looks like overnight camping is allowed, but you probably need a...

Very special and historical beach. It’s one of the most symbolic grounds in the big island, the history, the energy, the significance that this land has to the Hawaiian culture is indescribable!

Please be very respectful when there. The locals really keep that place clean, and I have seen visitor being treated with respect. I also have seen visitors getting a hard time while acting disrespectful, I have to warn you, that’s usually not tolerated by the crowd that visits that place. So if you’re the type of tourist that likes to mess with marine life, historical sites and artifacts, leave your trash all over the place, not respectful to locals and beach employees, you might not have a great time in Hawaii!

Explore the hikes available, besides being nice and easy they are historical. Try to spot wales and sharks, they will be there! Go check out the visitor center, they got valuable information ℹ️

And enjoy the amazing sunset 🌅 it’s one of a kind!

Enjoy and...

Places to Visit In Hawaii Part 4 Nestled on the beautiful coast of Hawaii’s Big Island, Pu’ukohola Heiau National Historic Site offers a unique glimpse into ancient Hawaiian history and culture. Built in the late 1700s, this sacred site was once a place of worship and political significance for the Hawaiian people. Visitors can explore the ruins of the temple and learn about its fascinating history through guided tours and interactive exhibits. This place is also a short walking distance away from a beautiful beach called Spencer Beach Park. Located on the stunning Kohala Coast of Hawaii, this park offers crystal clear waters, soft white sands, and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. With plenty of picnic areas, camping sites, and hiking trails. With stunning ocean views and a rich cultural experience, Pu’ukohola Heiau is a must-visit destination for any traveler to Hawaii. #hawaii #travelhawaii #visithawaii #hawaiireels #bigisland #travel #beaches #travelreels #travelblogger #placestovisit #beautifuldestinations

I camped in all county parks during my stay on Big Island. This was over 12 days in mid December until Christmas Eve. Pros: This park has more space than most. It also has a few beach showers as well as a spacious pavilion and restrooms. Security exists and will lock the gate at 9PM and reopen in the morning. Cons: This park gets a LOT of people that cannot overnight. There were probably 20 tents during my last stay. I added a picture but that's just a small area of the park. It's almost like a party park for people who are staying near Mauna Kea Resort. It seemed like a potentially cute area where parents could camp with their kids, but that's hit and miss depending on the obvious party crowd. Also, feral cats can make a bit of noise, but honestly there were so many people the last time I stayed that the cats were scared away.
