To get to this beach you will have to navigate narrow roads and then it becomes a single lane. The parking is tight but we had great luck and someone pulled out as we came in.
The beach park entry is free and calls you in with a welcoming flat green grass area and a few picnic benches scattered around. There are tons of shady areas provided by the lush trees but somewhat of a limited space.
This park is part of a marine life sanctuary and the utmost respect should be shown to the marine life. Seriously.
Keep in mind this is a rocky beach. Access to the water is rocky but it is easier than you think to slip in and let the current take you out past the reef. No need to venture out too far for primo fish spotting.
Cation should be taken in the water as currents are strong, it is easy to become mesmerized by the beautiful tropical fish and get pulled across the cove.
There was an impromptu musical artist gathering with ukuleles, acoustic guitars, and a wash bucket rubber band bass. The band playing fun music, set a good aloha vibe. Not sure of this is a Sunday thing or a one off.
It is easy to see why this beach is enjoyed by locals and...
Read moreI'm surprised to see so many positive reviews honestly We were standing on the shore, watching the water to see if it was safe to snorkel when the steward came up to us. She made us feel very unwelcome. She went off about how we aren't allowed to take pictures or tag on social media, and how we shouldn't stand so close to the water, and how they don't want more than 20 (?) visitors. I didn't even have my phone on me, so I'm not sure why she thought I'd be tagging anything on social media. There were also way less people there than capacity.
We had been told by a local that there was a sandy beach nearby good for snorkeling, We asked her if we should go there instead, and she replied "I don't know WHAT local would tell you that. It's a Saturday. The local children are playing at that beach. That beach isn't for YOU. Don't you take that away from them!"
I'm not sure how us snorkeling in water would take away from kids playing on the beach. I am sure that the steward is...
Read moreThis park is overseen by a Nazi women who challenges your entry and believes she's doing you a favor by admitting you.
Seeking only to have lunch after nearby kayaking, we settled after being cleared. Read the posted rules carefully before entering and smoking is not prohibited here. Yet, the Nazi stormed over and advised to put out the smoke. I refused as it's not posted and this was an arbitrary move by an unpleasant dictator with dubious authority. Besides, we were nowhere near anyone else in this vast open area.
Upon leaving, Der Fuhrer advised us "don't come back." We won't. We're not rule breakers, but we do believe in the rights of all, including smokers, and rail against arbitrariness and injustice - no matter how small.
If you don't want smoking here, Post It!
Don't visit unless you wish to be under...
