Volcano Art Center Gallery — Attraction in Hawaii

Tucked away in Volcano City, this hidden gem of a place is well worth the stop. A tour through one of the last stands of tropical rain Forest on the Big Island is an easy and most enjoyable walk with markers to educate and guide walkers. Monday mornings at 9:30 am a guided tour is available. Art displays are tastefully arranged with gift items. An absolute must-visit on the island of Hawaii. The building itself has a fascinating history and the gallery is an excellent way to support the Center and local artists. It's thoughtfully curated and I found the most beautiful pieces of jewelry that are both unique and culturally significant. I was on the fence about my purchase (it was a big one for me,) and the folks at the shop were kind, informative, and honest without being pushy. Had a nice visit with Claire here at the art center. Nearly bought a piece 23 years ago while here on honeymoon. Nearly bought a piece here last week but ended up with a different piece from elsewhere. This is a great gallery. They stay true to the gallery they have been for decades. I highly recommend at least visiting here, even if you’re not looking to buy. It’s like a Hawaiian Art Museum. It’s very close to Kīlauea which has erupted 32 times since December 2024.
