Now I'm giving two stars because of the many years I've gone and taken a small group of people every year (sometimes twice or three times a season) and it's always been 5 stars prior. I have gone twice this 2024 season Oct 12th and Oct 19th ☆Oct 12th.... •I was told by a young man running baggage claim we were to take my guests vape pen back to the vehicle bc it may be marijuana (I showed the brand of vape and said look it up) this brand is nicotine only (vapresso) I was talked down to and told to return it to the vehicle. My group was treated poorly and without a single speck of respect. Also why would we set an illegal substance vapor pen on the table for them to see. •A scarer with a chainsaw at the end of Swine jumps out and gives chase to the young girls in our group..The security guard nearby sternly yells don't run! ...I mean c'mon he gave chase! Other than that wait times weren't bad and the scarers were on top of their game Swine was amazing and reminded me of the best haunt you ever had called Terror Canyon and we had alot of fun! ☆Oct 19th.... A scarer was posing for my friend picture A I was passing the scarer I saw my friend was about to take the pic so (I .. without making a peep) turned and put my head into the picture while she took the shot. Then a security guard came at me full throttle, very disrespectfully and very ill tempered and yelled hey! and actually got nose to nose with me and sternly said don't scare my actors! I came back at him saying.. What are you talking about? I turned in for a pic and said I'm a 48yr old man here to have a good time do I honestly look like a punk to you. He still came at me with disrespect until the actor told him I didn't do anything wrong! Then he said, oh, and just walked off, No Apology! •A worker told me they had sold over 8,000 tickets for the night of Oct 19th I said this is ridiculous!!!! there has to be a cut-off for the park to be enjoyable and none of us can opt out or get a refund.. plus the expensive drive, parking cost, and very high priced food and drinks. I honestly see scarywood not being worth the money time and effort any longer (and each of my group members agree) ☆First it should be 18 and up (so security and park workers don't have to deal with the problems the adolescents are creating) ☆Second, there needs to be a cut-off.. 8,000 people is great when both parks are open not for One Half of One park. Also 8,000 showing up at one time for a five hour haunt is ridiculous. Over 8,000 people come to and from Silverwood and Boulder Beach daily and that number is better handled with both parks open. ☆Third, an actual security company needs to teach scarywood security workers how to handle a situation or individual with full respect. I've been in security for 23 years I'm able to teach them all some great pointers in respect and kindness approach. ☆Oct 19th I got to scarywood at 635pm I didn't get inside until 749pm between parking, bag check, and ticket scan. When there is that many people I feel very screwed over for the very small 5 hour window. Lines get way longer There were less people the 12th and all the haunted attractions were amazing as they let in groups of 9 to enter the haunts. The 19th the same haunted attractions were very dumb as they did not let any groups in it was one long continuous line walking through. I hope you see now why too many guests doesn't work until you open and create more attractions, more space, and more lines like... baggage and ticket scan. I know it's business and you make alot of money but it can't be about how many people you can bring in but how many people you can accommodate and make them all as happy as you can. I've been there with small groups of people since you've been open and this year is showing me if there isn't any changes from my advice I guess scarywood was a thing for me but will be no longer. With all my hopes for you and great...

Things to consider: *Parking is an extra $10 *not all attractions/games/restaurants are open *accessibility, while mostly flat there are some gravel walking paths *all queues are uncovered, if it had rained I would not be as happy *haunts had estimated wait times at the start of the queue but not the rides
Overall We went on Sunday 10/20/24 and had a great night, brought winter coats but due to the unseasonably warm weather we got hot. Arrived to the park at 6:20pm which gave us plenty of time to pay/find parking, go through security, use the restroom and queue up at the gates for an open time of 7pm. Actors were roaming around which added to the hype. Note: at the entrance there were several porta potties but all were out of service, the two available restrooms were single person family style and had long lines.
We started with the new haunts first as we figured the popularity and location (far back of park) could result in long lines. We then figure 8’d around- not waiting more than 30 minutes for anything we wanted to do.
The staff is attentive and friendly, there is ample security roaming, the park and restrooms were clean and the actors gave it their all.
Ambiance Lighting - contributed beautifully to the vibe, uplighting fall foliage is always the right answer. Beware it gets DARK on some pathways, as a 30-something that - in itself -is scary enough. Fog - like lighting, fog is a high impact mood setter. It was cool until it was too much, especially in the tunnel that connects to Clown Land. Hear me Scarywood: you are pumping too much fog in there. Other than waking up with smokers lung, it was a fun element. Flow - When you are not in a haunt or riding an attraction there are several actors roaming and fun scenes that heighten the experience - our fav was skunk man. The walkways are set up for a specific flow, walking from the front to the back of the park is a fun/scary experience. In reverse feels a little “back stage”.
Haunts The haunted houses overall were nicely done and well thought out. There are 5 in total and we were able to easily fit in all 5. The 6th haunt “Illusion” is a themed magic show with 3 showings 8pm, 9pm, 10pm which was not widely advertised so we missed it by 4 minutes. (There are some reviews on google about the magician’s predatory behavior which honestly put it at the lowest priority for me). Each haunted house had a different element-
The swine was an outdoor corn maze (that seriously stumped some folks, including us) Planet Zombie had us walking with a tiny red light in complete darkness. Small detail but the red light was so hard to hold down to keep activated, my thumb still hurts. Chuckles the clown had 3D glasses Pharaohs curse had really great sets/ animatronics Blood Bayou has clearly been the longest running haunt and had the best theme I would say I am moderately hard to scare but got at least one good jump in each house.
Food Souvenir cup - $9.99 and you get free refills all night of purchase; hot chocolate/hot apple cider/ coffee. The cup itself is well designed with a fairly tight lid and a cap to cover the drink hole. It was great to feel like we could ditch our drinks to ride a coaster and refill upon return. Without the souvenir cup- beverages are $2.99.
Restaurants - Silverwood can improve marketing the food. One of the reasons we are leaving such a thorough review is lack of documentation of menu. There are several food vendors - mostly selling the same menu items. Overall, affordable and unimpressive fair food; Mac n cheese, French fries, bbq pork, brownies, cotton candy, hot dogs, chicken tenders, funnel cake, churro fries. We split the pulled pork French fries in Clown Land for $9.99, a hot dog for $4.99 and a Reese’s dessert blonde for $3. Again, the food was fine, the price makes it hard to complain.
We’ll be...
Read moreThis was our first time coming here. We traveled from almost 3 hours away. For first timers, we had no idea what to expect but all in all we would say that we had a really good time.
The lines just to get into Scarywood alone probably took 40 minutes, and we showed up as soon as they opened at 7pm. People kept cutting ahead to get checked by security, and what really held us up was security checking peoples bags. (Thankful and appreciated the extra precautions and safety, however if there were seperated lines, maybe for people with and without bags, it would make things more organized and smoother for those trying to get in)
Once we got in we were really excited and amazed with how well the place was decorated and how good the actors looked. You could definitely tell a lot of work went into the place and it was AWESOME! My personal favorite was the Clown Town. Spooky and fun! Having a map really helped us navigate our way through.
Blood Bayou, Total Darkness, and Dr. Deliriums Rockhouse were our favorites! They were so fun and cool to walk through.
My only complaints would have to be that with standing in lines, both to get into Scarywood, and for the attractions/rides, you do not get the full experience you paid for. We had no time to ride rides, go into stores, and were only able to make it to 4/5 attractions and missed the Disillusion show. If Scarywood maybe stayed open 2-3 hours longer I feel it definitely would have been worth the $40 tickets. Also although all of the actors and attractions were great, in most of the walk-throughs I was in the back of my group and hardly got scared because actors were only jumping out for the people in the very front so I could always tell where they were and when to expect their scare (if they attempted).
Definitely a fun experience, just would like to be able to explore and get a taste for everything instead of having to pick and choose your favorites. Props to the actors,...
