Must visit. Perfect for walking adventures all year round. Wheel chair accessible paths. Find Butternut Creek bridge, listen to water while sitting in multiple areas on bench swings and enjoy shady trails near the water powered grismill. Swimming, tennis, skate park, baseball, picnics, family reunions, festivals. Tons of parking. We have loved this place since we visited the dog park, with wetland area to see so many water wildlife in their natural habitat. Frisbee golf are with 18 golf baskets. Dog park also has large shady tree growth. Well groomed paths for beginner enthusiasts. Fenced park area for dogs to be unleashed. Bathroom facilities with soap. Plus covered pavilion for rental. Come and see...

Meeks Park is a beautiful spot to spend the day. There are a couple of nice walking trails and lots of nature to see. The kids playgrounds are awesome and pretty large compared to some others I have seen. The creek running through park is gorgeous. It's big enough to play in but calm enough it doesn't sweep my toddler down stream.

Most importantly there is plenty of shade to rest under. Too many parks now are clearing out every single tree and it's just too hot. Georgia was founded on shade country and summer breezes.

The only shortfall is this is a non-dog friendly park. I understand not wanting to let dogs run off leash but on leash this park is just too pretty to not bring the four legged...

So when I first moved here I was a little annoyed that this park does not allow dogs. I will say though, across the highway is a wonderful dog park. Don't let the lack of dogs allowed in the park turn you off to this place. This is a beautiful park if you need a restful and calm walk in nature. The water is beautiful. The pads are well groomed. Everyone in the park is very polite. And I do enjoy the fact that it's a space where you will not be interrupted. It's meditative. I love my dog. But I take him to the other park when it's time to take him out. And this is my place, this park, for me and my coffee and some quiet time for myself. If you need a restful moment, go to Meeks.

This park is wonderful and peaceful. I brought my daughter here while we were in the area visiting. The playground is great, there's 2 separate play areas that are gated to keep kids from running off, which is so important since there's a river right across from them. The hiking paths are gentle enough for young kids to walk without getting too worn out. I wish we had had time to check out the pool area. It looks like a lot of fun! Out on the trails are really cool art pieces, tall statues that my daughter was obsessed with.
