DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE ON THE WEEKEND. My family and I traveled a little over and hour just to get to the location this Saturday 12/13/20. After arriving around 5:15PM we were then sent on a miles long traffic jam that took us almost all the way to downtown Hershey. The traffic was so bad I thought I was in New York City for most of the night. By the time my family and I waited in a miles long traffic jam, and slowly weaved our back to the lights actual location it was 4 hours later. Not kidding when I say we had to drive over 5 miles away, and sit in a line it was 9:30PM by the time we got to the gates to enter. Yea not kidding we spent almost 4 hours sitting in our car trying to get back so we could get into the place. It was terrible, and by the time we actually got there all my kids wanted to do was go home and my little one fell asleep. They were worn out from having to stay in the car for so long it wasn't really enjoyable by the time we got to drive through.
On to the Sweet Lights itself...what can I say but "meh"....It was "ok" if you want to see lights and displays that look like they came from the 80's and haven't been updated since. Not to mention you couldn't really see half of the displays since they had two lanes of cars for most of the route through the lights so if a big truck or van was next to you in the other lane they blocked all the lights on that side. Who thought it was a good idea to have it be two lanes? The music station they had for the place was very low quality, and only had maybe 10-15 songs playing on a loop which after sitting in a car for about 2 hours near the place waiting to get in and then spending another hour driving through those 10-15 songs became annoying fast about halfway through we turned it off. The radio station must have been low power as well as it only covered a portion of the drive and the rest was static. For $35 dollars a 4 hour wait just to get in and 61/2 to 7 hour hour total trip just to drive through and see maybe 20-30 minutes worth of generic lights it was definitely not worth the time or money. We will never go back to this mess again. If you do still feel like going then please try to go on a weeknight where I am hoping the traffic won't be as bad but for the love of god avoid the weekends. By the time we got through all the traffic, waiting, and then the drive home it was almost 1:30AM yea not joking. We left our house at 4PM and got there at...
Read more(2024 Holiday Season) Disappointing to say the least. The website is not very informative as it only tells you prices start at $29.99 and makes you go to a different website altogether to see the actual hours. Seems they could do a better job listing the hours and the price for each day. When we arrived the price was $50.00 which is way overpriced for the experience. They also don’t have any discount for season pass holders. If this event was more appropriately priced it would earn more stars even with the below negatives.
A lot of displays had lights out. The ‘tunnel of lights’ had literally 3 rows working and the rest were out. Parts of the road were in disrepair. One bump was so big it caused our minivan to actually bottom out.
There were a lot of lights which is a plus….there was not a lot of motion with them and no displays that were synced to music or anything. They don’t have any special music, instead they direct you to tune to a local radio station that has not so great reception.
The ending laser finale was pretty cool. Synced to music it would be even better.
All in all if you are looking between here or Knoebels Joy through the grove, go with Knoebels. They have a set price of $25 so no surprises when you arrive, is also 2 miles in duration, and has much better themed sections with more inspired displays.
Don’t get me wrong, Hershey’s Sweet Lights was impressive, just not what you would expect from such a big organization. Again, if this was more appropriately priced at say $20 it would be worth 4 stars even in its...
Read moreI've been to several drive through light displays on the east coast and was looking forward to this one but it failed to live up to expectations. The first part is just a large field with light displays some of which had us asking "what is that supposed to be?" The first part is also two lanes, like highway driving. Being so close to other cars made it difficult to see the light displays on both sides. As you ride through, the the two lanes become one creating a traffic jam (at least this Saturday night @ 6pm). The second half of the drive was single lane which was an improvement but light displays are right next to the road so not only can you see every light bulb, you can see bulbs that weren't working. Being so close to the lights also made it difficult to appreciate the whole display, kind of like you see the tree instead of the forest. The signage directing drivers to the light display was sparse and not easily seen when driving at night which resulted in u-turns and driving super slow. For an amusement park that presumably has designers and engineers, this attraction is a let down and not worth the admission price. That being said, I do acknowledge that there is limited space in the area where the attraction is held which clearly limited presentation options. I'm glad I finally saw the attraction but won't go again, I'll see better displays driving through random residential...
