Stanford Skate Park — Attraction in Hickory

This park is poorly laid out. Very difficult to string tricks together. I have taken my daughter to parks all over the country, but this park (our home park) is staffed by the worst group of people I have ever encountered. On many occasions we have made the 20 minute trek only to find the park closed for no discernable reason. The staff is that wonderful mixture of lazy self righteous bully public employee that I had hoped died off sometime in the 90's. This park needs a complete overhaul. It's dangerous to skate here with the conditions the ramps are currently sitting in. The riding surface has cracks and holes. The coping on the ramps is not positioned correctly. The transition from the concrete pad to the ramps surface is unlevel resulting in a harsh riding transition. Screw heads penetrate the ply layers resulting in a nasty cut if you happen to fall and slide on the ramps surface. This park needs to have urgent maintenance to repair or replace every ramp...

It’s honestly a shame how nowadays scooters are being banned from parks like this. The main misconception about scooter riders are that they always get in the way. This is true for the very young rider who should not come to a skatepark in the first place. I have now rode scooter for two and a half years now. I have learned skatepark edict that many skaters don’t care to do. If this park wants more people they should grow up and...
