Neat nature place my wife and I visited over memorial weekend 2023. It was a small walking trail loop that led to beyond-park trails if interested, with a paved walkway within the preserve that left the nature around it undisturbed. It was a shorter walk than I expected, and the water areas the signs had advertised were dried up, but we hadn’t had much in the way of rain the past few weeks leading up to our visit, so I can only complain so much. The old growth White Pine’s were cool to see. And the generally undisturbed nature amidst the walkway was quite cool to see. It was a good get-out-of-the-house/town mental and physical decompression space. Would have liked to see it perhaps in the spring, when the creek running through the place was really flowing with water. Today my 6 year old great granddaughter experienced the preserve for the first time although her grandparents were very familiar with the Gahagan Preserve and the E.L.F. Program. It was exciting to see this familiar landmark through the eyes of a 6 year old. We were lucky to visit on a Friday when an interpreter was in the cabin to show us some exhibits.
