I had the Wonderful pleasure of working security for my first but definitely not my last John Coltrane Jazz & Blues Festival. I actually got paid to keep Secure a venue that was outstanding with Talent , great ppl that I had pleasure of working with & spectators that I had the pleasure of meeting. The weather was picture perfect. I listened to new artist and old artist. It was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was great, the food was great even though because I was working, it took me a while to get to it but everything turned out just fantastic. I'll go into details at another time as I am extremely tired but Blessed, Alhamdulilah. I was able to work, Pray, Enjoy great music, meet good people & see some ppl that brought me great pleasure. One example is; four years ago I worked Security at the African Street Festival in Brooklyn. I was back stage and was Blessed to meet the son of one of my favorite music artist; Tito Puente which was Tito Puente Jr. I told him then how much I loved his father's music. Being a Percussionist & a fan of Latin music, Salsa, Mambo ChaCha, Meringue, etc. I instantly was connected to him. So cut today & I had the Wonderful pleasure of reconnecting with Him, Tito Puente Jr as he was one of the featured artist. Of course I enjoyed his performance, which was Rocking but was able to meet up with him afterwards. I also saw his lovely wife and family. I got his new CD, a picture( which I normally don't do when I am working but I made an exception). Again it was an awesome weekend.. In Shaa Allah, I will be making it a point to come to this incredible Annual event. I encourage everyone and anyone who loves good music, especially Jazz & Blues with a little extra Latin Flavor to come to the future events. My hats off to the organizers of this wonderful event especially Joe Williams &...
Read moreThis location is one of my FAVORITE local getaways when I am having a bad day. The lake is beautiful from this vantage point and so serene. Something about water, lakes, and ponds that makes everything feel like it's going to be " ok ". The park also offers an amazing relaxation spot to watch some of the most gorgeous sunsets I have ever seen over a body of water and it's right here in the triad of NC. All of these photos included were taken from the playground part which is on the northern side of the dam off Eastchester Drive. There is a picnic table and a park bench with several large rocks with which I have gotten some cool photos using in the rocks in the foreground, if you need a peaceful place to go in the evening and possibly watch the sun go down, have a picnic dinner, or enjoy an ice cream from the local ice cream place just up the road a few miles, I...
Read moreI visited Oak Hollow Festival Park during the Uncle Sam Jam on the 4th of July. There were several hundred people in attendance during my time there. There was plenty of space to walk around, sit under the picnic shelter, or sit in the grass.
There were plenty of food truck options ranging from barbecue and hot dogs to donuts and lemonade.
They also had a family fun area with inflatables and corn hole.
Pets are not allowed during the festival, but you can bring in your own food, drinks, chairs, blankets, etc.
If you are visiting from out of town during the 4th of July, I would definitely recommend the...
