This is a public park accessed within the Ft. Sheridan complex. It's along the lakefront with a series of trails that branch to an overlook and to the beach. There's good parking with an overall clean, well-maintained feel. At beach level there's a wide, sweeping view of the lake extending to northern Iliinois on one side. Very refreshing to see the waves, hear the water, like a mini vacation! Only con is that the paths can get muddy near beach level.

I'll dock off one star because I was surprised of how small their beach parking lot was. It could easily fill up, that you would be lucky to find a spot (probably while waiting for somebody else to leave). It puzzles me why they can't expand the parking lot when they have such huge open land and beautiful trails and the beach to explore... so parking by the beach, I would warn you!!

Once upon a time ultra-wealthy Chicago business owners donated land to the military so they’d have a nearby Army base for crushing labor strikes. Today, it’s a gorgeous place to toss rocks in the lake and listen to the surf. They’re very strict about “No Swimming.” There’s quite a lot of broken bits metal scattered on the beach, so crocs or sandals are a good idea.

We discovered this beach yesterday and it is so so beautiful but narrow, rocky. The parking lot super small, maybe 30 spots? so there were 40 more cars parks outside slots and all of them got a $50 parking ticket. Beach was packed and many with bbqs full of smoke the whole beach. The path to the beach around 6 min is very steep so if you carry things...you will get tired on the way back. The trails also amazing but we will not go back during weekends. It is too crowded and everyone line up not moving waiting for someone to leave while police...

An incredible location that makes you feel like you're at the ocean but still near Chicago.

Parking is a little tight but also shows that this is a secret gem of the North shore. Great walking trails that blends nature with convenience thanks to the Army Corps of Engineers.

This is a place with plenty to do and look forward to visiting again at different times of the year. Highly...
