This trail is a must do! Views were incredible with a side trip to the view of the spires. I used to be pretty good with scrambling on rock and now a little more careful; but it’s doable. There were young kids summiting with no fear!
The day we hiked this trail (Oct 4, 2024), we had to take a different trail back down (Cathedral Spires Trail) and got a ride back from a cool couple to the LDT parking lot since the trail caught fire! 🔥 Happened quick, response time from Emergency Personnel was incredible. It was a first for us, but made it down safely (and the opportunity to hike CS trail, was awesome too!).
Highly recommend but be aware of your surroundings while hiking and be prepared at any time for...

Read moreWonderful hike, parked at Sylvan Lake and hiked to the top of Little Devils Tower. The hike took us about 2-2.5 hours round trip. The trails the 1/2-2/3 of the way are pretty easy but as you get towards the end there is quite a bit of rock scrambling and crevice climbing to get to the top. There are excellent views, including the back of Mt. Rushmore if you know where to look. We went the last week of December so it was pretty chilly at the top, and the sun sets at 4:30 so be sure you allow plenty of time...
