If you are interested in Nascar history or just want to enjoy a walk-in nature, this is the place for you. The parking lot is gravel. I did not see a public restroom so plan accordingly. The track featured at this park started as a horse race track and was discovered by Nascar in the late 1940's. Races were held here until the late 1960's. You can see a couple old cars along the track and the original concrete stands. There are lots of Pepsi signs. The trails are mostly packed dirt. No roots but uneven in some places, so it would be difficult with a wheelchair. I think a stroller would do fine, especially a jogging stroller. There are a few picnic tables and benches along the trails if you need a rest. You are walking a path in trees so it is mostly shaded, which is nice in summer. You may also see deer, squirrels and lots of birds.

NASCAR began here in 1948 and they raced here until 1968. Fun to see the concrete stands, starting area, and even rusted out old cars. As I walked around the dirt track, I could only imagine what it had been like 75 years ago with the crowds cheering after having walked to this hidden gem tucked away in the woods. Winners included the Pettys, Flocks, Johnsons, all names synonymous with NASCAR.

Absolutely gorgeous and historic park. A wonderful walk but watch your step there are many roots to the overgrowth. There are lots of places to sit and signage to follow. I highly recommend for people who enjoy the outdoors, field trips, and dog walks. Peaceful and beautiful.
