Finally got to visit Slayton Arboretum! George A Slayton donated the original land to create the Arboretum and he is a cousin to my husband. What an absolutely beautiful space. Love the stone buildings and the ponds and waterfalls. Thrilled to have our name attached to this park.

Stopped at this hidden gem during a road trip, and it was a great place to stretch the legs! Free admission, there is just a people gate you need to open. There are no restrooms that I know of. This is on a college campus, and there was only street parking. No animals allowed.

This place has always been extremely pretty and well maintained. The main trail heads are usually lined with a variety of blooming flowers, the ponds have a wide ecosystem, the wood stairs up the hills are maintained, the gazebos are a popular spot to take photos. But the real gem is the off the path trail around the biggest pond and to the right instead of left to get to the tallest gazebo. You cross a nice little bridge, and come up to a diet path that forks into multiple directions, it's very quiet back there and I've encountered many deer while sitting...

This is a lovely spot, right off a side street. We visited as part of a wedding party photo shoot. There were lots of vignettes to choose from. It was off-season so the parking was accessible but I am not sure that the Arboretum is accessible during the college session very easily. Also, we have family vision-impaired with limited mobility. That wasn't easy to do. We recommend if you have limited mobility friends in your group to make pre-arranged adjustments to...

Beautiful man made water fall. The gardens need to be tended, but the waterfall cascading down the hill into the pond is so serene and peaceful. There are stone step staircases leading up both sides with a couple of benches to stop and enjoy the surroundings. There are also several mulched pathways leading off into other park settings. I really loved the stone rotunda at the top that overlooks the pond. Well worth the stop even if just...
