I am receiving ads on Facebook for their survey about my views on socialism. While I have some socialist views, there are certain ideas that I don’t agree with. I decided to take this survey, thinking that it would “help educate America’s youth” as the description claimed (I thought, maybe by helping them to understand the differing viewpoints?) As a biological science student (at a different college), I have taken many classes involving how to properly collect and use data for statistics. I have never seen a survey more bias than this one. There is no doubt that the creators are far-right; the introduction of the first question introduces their views against socialism. Each question is followed by biased and completely unsupported claims that the person must also agree or disagree with by giving only one response. This is not a survey about one’s views about socialism, but a trick to get people to agree with opinions they don’t completely agree with and were not given the option to address. If the creators don’t get the answer they want, they can easily manipulate the responses by cherry-picking which part of the question the answer suits best. Example: Do I agree that our country’s youth needs to be better educated on government and economy? Absolutely. But do I also agree with the claim, not question, that this lack of education is the cause of youth favoring socialism which is going to crumble our country? NO. The surveyor is clearly manipulating the survey to get the answers they want. There is no way for me to answer such a question in a way that reflects my views. Freedom of speech? Sure, go for it. Propaganda, manipulation and bias? From a college?! Shameful. I hope to god this college does not offer statistics courses, or any fact-based courses for that matter. This place shouldn’t even be accredited if this is how they...
Read moreI truly wish I would have been a Hillsdale student & Graduate. .. They have it going on at Hillsdale College!
I have learned that undergraduate students interact with the President of the College, Dr. Larry Arnn on a regular basis. How many schools do you know of that have that feature?
Past graduates in the workplace today make a kindred connection with these students, having had life's experiences along with previous lecturers voices going through their minds.
The best education a student can obtain for the money invested, my bet is with Hillsdale. Their online community outreach program is what made me a believer.
Many lifelong questions that I had were answered through the online coursework offerings that Hillsdale offers. I will give a quick example. Dr. Arnn's Introduction to the Constitution addressed the issue of The U.S. Constitution must be interpreted as a living and breathing document, so as to be applicable to our current day.
Dr. Arnn offers a more logical answer. The Founding Documents are based upon unchanging and non moving principles. Therefore one can logically conclude that if these founding principles are wrong today, then they were certainly wrong in their own time - which is absurd. The Founding Principles are correct today, 250 years ago, and will be correct into infinity.
Such a simple response to many emotionally charged current events has the very real effect of provoking thought and debate in our society. The outcome of this debate is a healthy respect and maintenance of the ideals that the Founder words call out to us to pursue.
This one aspect is just a microcosm of what an undergraduate student should be brought to think about as they prepare for life studying at...

Summary: For a school which is reasonably priced to begin with and offers a ton of scholarships, it is definitely worth applying to. It is also probably #1 in the nation for students interested in a strong background in conservative philosophy or...
