My family of six decided to give the new ownership the “3 Strikes” rule and unfortunately they struck out! This occurred over 3 visits to the Diner: 1. There is a difference between a hotcake and a pancake, and it was obvious Mac’s recipe was not followed, since the “pancakes” were twice as thick as what the “hotcakes” used to be and had little flavor; in addition, please learn how to fry a medium egg. 2. Get a new cashier, maybe one who has the ability to smile; gives you the greeting of the day when you walk in or approach the register; or can actually say Thank You after you pay. The big red head with tattoo’s and no personality needs to be canned, since she is unable to perform any of the above! 3. The wait staff is pathetic, especially the big red head, again with no personality and can’t understand the wife’s simple request for a lemon for her water after we had already ordered, which after 15 minutes, another waitress asked if we’ve been served and again, the lemon for the water was requested. After a ten minute wait for the lemon, along with no signs of our breakfast being brought out – we left and will not return. And the new menu – you can shove it with the rather substantial increase in prices! ...

Tried out The Hillsville Diner for the first time since it changed hands. I had breakfast: pancakes, gravy, eggs, sausage, and sweet tea. I will begin by saying it's definitely not the same as it was when Mac owned it, but it's still good. The pancakes (or hotcakes, as they now call them) were delicious, but much larger and thicker than they used to be, The gravy was also much thicker and spicier (sausage gravy) than what I used to get. Mac actually offered "pancakes and gravy" as a menu item, but now you must order it separately. I know it's an odd combination to many people, but I grew up eating pancakes that way made by my grandparents, so after they passed, getting them at the diner exactly the way they made them really took me back. Everything else was good, no complaints. Scrambled eggs, sausage patties. Absolutely fantastic value as well, you can't beat the prices. Will definitely return, was just a little saddened by...

Stopped in for breakfast since I hadn't tried it before. We ordered two hungry breakfast plates which consisted of one biscuit and gravy, 2 eggs and 2 strips of bacon per plate we both ordered a drink and home fries. The total was over 21 dollars!!!! That is crazy. The gravy was packaged, the eggs were overcooked. Home fries weren't bad, although they had garlic salt on them. Which wasn't terrible, i just wouldn't have ordered them had I known. The price was my main concern. For almost 25 dollars for two people, the food should have been made fresh not out of a package. Hardees is less than half the cost of what I paid, and twice as good. Wouldn't go back unless they make...

Went in to the Hillsville Diner based on these google reviews. If you’re looking for food that tastes like Grandma’s, this is it. My pork tenderloin could have came out of Mommaw’s skillet. The home fries were crunchy and no- nonsense yummy. Gravy was dressed up with pepper. But the quaint little place has one thing other places don’t: Excellent service!! Four different people checked on us and all of them had charm and humor to go with the coffee refills. I hear their hotcakes are amazing. Definitely, I recommend this very great value place and ask you please to not skip the pork tenderloin breakfast!!

I really love supporting small town businesses but the food here was not good. 😭 We ordered two breakfast meals to go ..a hungry mans special ( two eggs, ham and biscuits/gravy) and two eggs with grilled tenderloin..my scrambled eggs were slimy with so much oil I almost throw up đŸ€ą the tenderloin was just a tiny thin piece that was really dry. My husband said his meal was edible but not great. This place is also overpriced for what u get.. almost $30 for two small breakfast meals.. didn't even get any potatoes and still over $25! We'll leave this place for the locals..đŸ«©

What a fun restaurant in the heart of Hillsville!! I love country restaurants because you really get to experience the people! After we ordered, the waitress gifted us two small pieces of freshly made strawberry cake and I’ll tell you what
 it was just so thoughtful
a delicious! And she gave it to us! That was how we started our experience at this awesome place. Then we continued to have a quaint small town diner meal in our circle stools! Just watching the town roll on by outside.
