Country Club of Hilton Head — Attraction in Hilton Head Island

We were playing courtesy of a guest pass from a nearby resort. Pro shop staff were unfriendly and made us feel unwelcome. Anytime we called for a tee time we were given 3:20 pm, barely enough time to finish a round before dark. And yet, we saw only one other foursome on the back nine, so clearly they could have given us an earlier start time. There was no starter, no course map given, the tee markings on the hole signage were incorrect, the yardage markings were on the cart path, which was very inconvenient and the front nine fairways were in rough shape. Have attended 2 functions here in the past 6 months. Both were outstanding. Food was very good, prompty served, beautifully presented, and the waitstaff was most accommodating. The acoustics in the ballroom are very good, as one function I attended was quite large with noisy tables, yet people could still hear conversations at their own table. The outside views are lovely in all the clubhouse rooms, which are also comfortably furnished.

Enjoyed a birthday celebration and dinner at the restaurant. The set up was quant and beautiful in their private room. The service was private and attentive with cheerful but discreet servers. The food was plentiful and fabulous. I had swordfish which was a delicious and along awaited treat. The portions were larger than anything else on HHI. The shrimp cocktail as well was yummy. I wish this restaurant was open once a month to the public - I'd be a regular attendee. Great venue for a party as they accept party reservations...
