Our 10-year-old LOVES everything military history. This was his choice for our last stop while we were in the area. Great for a short little hike with littles or elderly guests. It looks like this place isn't maintained as often as others, but it could be an amazing wedding venue with a little clean up. The shop wasn't open when we were there, but I would love to see inside it sometime. We will return in hopes that it gets a little attention. Read moreFort Mitchel is a nice piece of history and worth seeing if you are inside the Hilton Head Plantation. The fort is inside the gated community, so it's only worth visiting if you have another reason to be in the area. That said, there is some history here and plenty of signs explaining the site. Read moreNeat little park. You have to enter through a security gate to reach the park. The remnants of the fort a barely recognizable as it has all collapsed in. If you follow the path across the bridge and view the fort from that side you can see where the old moat was and how the dirt was built up to form the fort. The cannons were pretty cool.
