We showed up to take engagement photos at sunset and the gentleman were EXTREMELY rude. They constantly made comments and used an intercom giving us a “countdown”-while staring directly at us. We were in and out within 40 minutes with plenty of time to spare (before closing time-out of the park with 10 minutes to close). The entire time both of the “employees” (if that’s what we are calling them) were disrespectful, unprofessional, belligerent, staring at us (my fiancée while changing) and just all around rude. As a nature reserve I would expect a much higher caliber of person. I would strongly recommend the HR, management team, etc to evaluate this as this is just one more complaint I’ve seen without even searching for negative reviews. It would be great to get a call back concerning this issue as it will/has clearly caused a hinderance/dislike for the location because of two inconsiderate men (not gentlemen by any means).
As a whole, the area is gorgeous and a prime spot to launch kayaks, paddle boards, and the likes. The gate had no attendant so we stopped for a few minutes only to be yelled at multiple times once parked by an attendee. No sign indicating the need to SEEK out someone to pay); however, he decided to belittle us and treat patrons with no respect. I will be reaching out directly...
Read moreUnfortunately this beautiful lake, which I have been fond of for years, has come under new and terrible management. Horrible speed bumps so high you could climb them, and they will damage your car, almost no matter HOW slow you go, say 5 mph. For so much money wasted on speed bumps, a cracked and disrepaired parking lot with cracks. But why? The horrible new management charges SEVEN DOLLARS only parking fee for ONE. DAY. 50 dollars for a year? Close at 6:30? This horrible mean man plays an air raid siren to FORCE peoppe out of the water by 625 EVEN IF everyone has gotten out of the water anyway 8 mins early FOR FEAR of this horrible man calling the police on them for...
Read moreThis is an amazing gem in Roanoke. One of the best kept secrets to be honest. You have beautiful shoreline and it’s quiet. I’ve seen black bears, eagles, water fowl, dear, squirrels along the shorelines, and fish jumping throughout the reservoir. This place is truly peaceful and beautiful. I love to kayak there. If you bring your own it’s only $5 and if you don’t have a kayak, they will rent you one for a reasonable fare. If you want to learn to kayak, they don’t have lessons but you can test the waters (as to speak) and teach yourself. No currents. Just flat, peaceful waters. Bring a friend. It’s more...
