Sunrise Park — Attraction in Holly Hill

There is evidence of future improvements, but overall, it seems like a poorly thought-out plan forced together. The children's play area is ok for those with small children. The park does have restrooms available, but I would save those for emergency use only considering the condition they were in. There are a few docks that extend out over the water for fishing, but with many of the railings in disrepair and some even falling away from their mounting locations, I wouldn't recommend them until the necessary repairs have been completed. There is a small exercise area out away from everything all by itself that appeared to be the likes of something you'd see in a prison scene in a movie. The bench seating area was small and limited, so perhaps bring your own chair and sun cover if you olan on sitting. And if you have ideas of laying down a blanket in the grass for any reason, you might want to hurry as to the spaces where grass was flourishing was extremely limited. Perhaps a complete overhaul of this park is necessary with a thought-out plan and flow to the amenities offered. There is a boat ramp offered on the south end of the park for small craft, but parking on the weekends may be limited due to the size of the parking...

Nice paved walking path with a fishing pier out into the Halifax River. There is an interesting fitness area.

Restooms were next to the parking lot.

The park appears to be undergoing some repairs.

Children were enjoying the playground equipment.

The South portion of the park had a small water retention pond that the White Ibises were delighted with.

This park lacked seating to rest or to just sit and enjoy.

There were some covered picnic tables. Quite a number of birds must roost above these tables from the layer of excrement on the tables. This is not an embellishment.

This park looks like a great place to exercise or to take children to the playground.

A decent little trail that goes around the park, lovely views of the water, a over water gazebo to hang out at, plenty of pavilions, a playground, a large workout machine setup, and plenty of Pokemon GO pokestops make this a great park to visit no matter who you are or what your looking for in a park. Big enough to easily house a crowd but also just small enough to be able to keep an eye on the kids from anywhere in the space, this is my go to when I need to take my siblings out to play and I can't recommend it enough.
