Fresh Gardens — Attraction in Homestead

I purchased a deal on Groupon for my fiancee and I to visit on her birthday. This Groupon was for the Fresh Garden Tour which included a tour of a 5 acre farm where we could learn more about exotic plants, the fruits they produce, and a bag of fruit from the exotic trees that we saw on the tour. I read a mixture of reviews but decided that since we loved the outdoors and learning about food, then why not try it out. I couldn't be more right. We had an amazing time. From the moment we got there, we were surrounded by the most friendly dogs you could ever imagine. Farmer Bob, the owner of the farm, told us that these dogs were rescued from homelessness after the terrible Hurricane that passed Florida years ago. It was the most beautiful thing. As we continued on our tour, I was surprised at how much I was learning and the variety of fruits from all over the world. We tried these apple/pear fruits that are common in India, Asian bananas that were so sweet and delicious, and picked star fruit off the trees and ate them while walking. I was so happy that we were able to meet Farmer Bob and take this tour. Farmer Bob was so knowledgeable about his craft and was so incredibly nice. We rented an RV for 6 weeks and it was located at Fresh Gardens. Farner Bob and his wife Carmen met us when we arrived at 8pm. They welcomed us with smiles and helped us get into the RV. He regularly checked on us and suggested restaurants and activities. We quickly became friends as we have several things in common including our love of music. We were free to walk around the tropical fruit tree farm and enjoy the fruits of his labor. We were also in the presence of 6 dogs that his family has rescued. Hint, hint, the pups love dogs cookies and will be your best friends should you choose to stock up on cookies.

The property met our needs and is extremely close to the FL Keys, Everglades NP, and Biscayne NP. Depending on traffic, it's about 1 hour from Miami and 1.5 hours from Ft Lauderdale. There are tons of attractions in Homestead and the surrounding areas. There was something for every member of the family.

I have ordered online from them several times in the past and had good experiences. But this last time the item I ordered wasn't having a good crop so I was told to hang on and they would ship later. No problem. Waited a couple months and checked back and they said they would ship something else to me which was fine. Nothing came. A couple months later same thing - "we'll send something right out". They never did. I really don't care what they send or if they refund the money but they stopped replying. My credit card says too much time has passed to file a claim against them so I got the Better Business Bureau involved but the business will not respond to the BBB either. I don't know what happened - this place used to be so good but now they just take your money and leave you hanging. ...
