Totally awesome experience!!! Ozello Air Boat Tour with Capt. Tim is simply the BEST! Our visit was on Jan 16th. There were four of us. We arrived about 30 minutes early and were welcomed by Bubba, marina owner. He was interesting to chat with and provided us drinks, boiled peanuts, and a comfy place to hang out while waiting for our tour.
Captain Tim arrived and was very friendly and welcoming as well. He took care of the paperwork and invited us to the airboat. As we walked out he shared information about the air boat itself. Arriving at the dock the super low tides made the boat sit significantly below the dock. This is not a common occurrence. Capt. Tim and the staff were helpful by demonstrating how and assisting each of us to get on the craft. He gave his advice, but then allowed us to choose where we sat. Tim wanted us to be safe as well as happy.
Tim is an excellent USCG Captain with great knowledge of the Ozello Keys area and its Native American history. Our ride was fun and exciting! There were high speeds, fast turns and even included a short ride over the grass land. We felt completely safe. We took the extended the tour as it is well worth the reasonable extra fee.
We told Capt Tim how much we wanted to see dolphin. While we knew this was not guaranteed, he promised to do his best. Capt. Tim did not disappoint us as he did find a dolphin for a few pictures. This was not an easy task that day given the tide situation and the cold weather. The scenery is beautiful. We saw coral, sponge, and a rare Asian crab. The birds in the mangroves we're abundant. Topping off the wonderful tour was the most gorgeous sunset. It was simply breathtaking! The trip back to the dock was amazingly smooth at lightning speed! Capt. Tim and staff assisted us with exiting the airboat and graciously thanked us for touring with them.
There are many airboat tours, but Ozello Boats is your number one choice for customer service, fun times, safe rides, area history, wildlife views, and a staff with skill and integrity. Don't pass up this...
Read moreThis review is directed towards the marina and the owner Bobby "Fletch" Fletcher only. We had never been to the area before so we called and spoke with the owner who informed us repeatedly the our 32' boat would not be too big for the ramp at Ozello or the area. Turns out it was a lie to get us there. Upon arrival at the quaint little town, we were barely able to fit down the streets nor pass under the power lines, and our boat was scratched by all the branches overhead. As we entered the road to the marina which is an unimproved road (dirt and mud) we immediately got stuck to the point where we had to be pulled out by a tractor. This is the road we were told to drive on by the way. The live bait that they advertised was half dead. The small aluminum boat my family rented to go red fishing practically sunk and the engine broke leaving my husband and son to get back on the trolling motor. AND they still charged us the full amount! And to top it all off, my son left his 2 tackle boxes full of tackle totaling hundreds of dollars, which was our fault, sitting on the dock when they got back. We noticed it after we left so we called and said we could turn around and get it but "Fletch" said not to worry he would send it to us. Fast forward 6 months, a dozen phone calls, texts, and pleading, and lie upon lie, the owner told us he sent it numerous times always ending in a lie. To this day, it has never shown up costing us hundreds of dollars. Nor will he call us back. DJ and the ladies at the little restaurant were extremely nice but it stops there. The owner is putting no money or love into this marina. Its a shame that a grown man, owner, and local veterinarian can't be trusted to...
Read moreAfter researching several different Air Boat tour companies in northern Florida, we decided to book with Ozello Air Boat tours. We live in South Carolina and while the tours that take you to see alligators sound fun, we wanted something a little different since we see plenty of gators in SC. What seemed to set them apart was that their tours venture out into the Gulf of Mexico.
We did the hour and a half tour and it was a lot of fun. It started by idling through the canals for about five minutes, which gave us a chance to look at all the interesting houses along the canal.
As soon as we were clear of the canal, we took off and zig zagged through the maze of the wetlands. Along the way we spotted some dolphins, our tour guide slowed down and allowed us to get some good pictures and videos, then he went in circles as the dolphins had fun swimming in our wake.
A short while later we were in the Gulf, amazing how clear and shallow the water was. Our tour guide shut the engine off and let us drift with the current for about 15 minutes and allowed us to sit in the edge of the boat and stick our feet in the water.
On the way back in, I spotted three sharks, but wasn’t able to get any pictures of them, but was cool to see. Came across some more dolphins as spent another five minutes watching them.
Definitely would recommend Ozello Boats, especially if you want something a little different from the other Air Boat tours. Not sure what part I enjoyed more: zipping around at full speed on the air boat or drifting with the current with my feet...
