Beautiful crater bay and we did early early walk in/which is really drive through for tickets. Don't worry if your ticket says a later time. Just park and wait on the grass side and the park ranger will still call all times to enter. We had a 11 a.m. after arriving at 7:30 and we went through by 8:30. Pack some snacks, or they have a cave with items you can order. The tide was really low, so we didn't snorkel. You can stand along the edge of the corral reefs and enjoy a variety of fish swim by. We saw twenty one different species. Items left on the beach were safe, but you can also rent a locker. There is a short video prior to walking down to the bay or you can take a shuttle.

I loved the snorkeling but hated the neverending arbitrary rules. We almost had to go home because my wife didn't have her ID. You can't leave the line to buy something from the shop. Someone can drop you off but they can't pick you up. They were going to force my young children and older parents to hike up a steep road. Finally they let the car down, but with only the driver for some reason (beach was already closed). I've had better experiences with the DMV and TSA. At least their rules are loosely based in logic.

According to Hanauma Bay’s official website, local residents (Residence) can enter anytime without the need to wait in line. However, my recent experience showed clear discrimination and unfair treatment.

We arrived at Hanauma Bay at 11:00 AM, only to be told that the parking lot was full and that we had to wait outside and return at 12:30 PM. What made this situation extremely frustrating was that both the cars in front of and behind us were allowed to enter the parking lot directly. I could clearly see that there were still available parking spaces inside.

If the website states that local residents must wait for parking availability, it should be clearly mentioned. Why were we denied entry while others with tickets were allowed in, despite the fact that there was still parking space available?

This selective enforcement of rules feels discriminatory and unfair. If the parking lot was truly full, no other vehicles should have been...

Got online at 7am 2 days in advance, could only reserve a 10:40am spot after getting kicked off a few times. Weekday entry- excited and ready with cash in hand
came early as directed and turned us away because parking lot full. They instructed us to park a mile down in a neighborhood and walk up
which wasn’t going to happen with the toddler and no stroller. Then it’s another 0.7m to the actual entry. Burned over $50 with our useless passes. Considered it a donation and redirected our day.

I guess if you’re not there before 8:30 or 9am...
