Judd Trail Adventure: A Must-Do for Families! If you're looking for a super fun outdoor adventure, especially if you have energetic boys or girls who love to explore, the Judd Trail has a secret spot you absolutely have to check out! It's super close to the start of the trail, so you don't even have to hike the whole thing if you're just looking for some splashy fun. Just about 10 to 15 minutes into your walk, you'll find an amazing natural swimming hole with a cool mini waterfall. This place is like a natural water park with three awesome things to do: * Jump Off the Rock Wall: On the far left, there's a rock wall that's perfect for a daring jump into the cool water. * Slide Down the Rock Slide: Over on the far right, you'll find a smooth rock slide that's a blast to zip down. * Swim in the Watering Hole: And of course, the whole watering hole is there for you to swim and splash around in! You'll know you're getting close to this awesome spot because the main path will split. You'll see a sign pointing you to continue on the main trail, but here's the secret: instead of following the arrow, stop right there! Look for a way to go down the hill to the river, and that's where you'll find this amazing, untouched paradise. It's truly a hidden gem and a fantastic way to spend a day in nature with your family. What do you think, does this sound like a place you'd want to go?

❗️❗️❗️ Beautiful & beware ❗️❗️❗️ Just did this hike yesterday and if you read carefully you’ll find key word “glass” with other reviews where others had their car broken into. Yes it happened to me yesterday and I’ll update with relevant updates as I have energy. Like others impacted by this break in the signature is as follows, during 1 hour ish hike the scumbags busted in to trunk, perhaps because nothing was visible in the front? 🤔 They also busted front driver side and passenger side windows as you can see from the images. These losers were clearly attempting to prey upon high value items as they only actually took a charging cord in the glove compartment and didn’t care to take two sets of snorkels 🤿 in the trunk. Hope these losers read this and hope karma treats them as they deserve. The glass on the ground should have been warning ⛔️ ⚠️‼️ to not park there, learning lesson indeed. The police from Kahili department were on the scene faster than I was, were extremely helpful and courteous and also are quite aware of the many past incidents here. There was a 2nd car impacted same time this day and several cars left alone. The trail itself is beautiful as many describe, not too difficult depending if you feel you need to get to the popular scenic waterfall. Fairly muddy and am certain it could get quite extreme with flash floods thanks to warnings on that.

This is a good trail to do if you're a beginner or want something not so intense. The beginning can be confusing, but if you go to the left towards the falls that are about 5 feet tall, you've gone the wrong way. You'll be able to see the road still so you aren't lost. Instead, you'll want to go straight as soon as you start, down the hill, to the stream. Follow the sound of people. Cross the stream. It's not deep or dangerous by any means. Walk through it or pick your way across the rocks. The trail immediately splits in 3. Not sure where the left trail leads other than back upstream. The middle trail takes you clockwise along the loop. Take the right trail to get to the swimming hole. Once again, follow the sound of people. If you take the middle trail, it's easy to take offshoots that switch your direction. Keep an eye on your AllTrails map. We ended up starting on the middle trail, took some sort of shortcut at the fallen tree, & ended up on the trail to the right, going counter-clockwise. Thus it was mostly uphill. Not bad or too steep, but uphill nonetheless. There are lots of roots which can collect water & make it muddy, but you could do this in slippahs. Took about 70 minutes & was about a mile. All shaded! No cliffs or dropoffs.

It’s actually a pretty nice little trail. Great access to water close to the trail and the trailhead. The main loop trail is pretty flat, so no spectacular views, but it’s a nice and quiet escape without too many other people and I didn’t see any mountain bikes. It’s well marked with signs with arrows, but pay attention and stay in the loop if the and what you want to do, and maybe make sure you have a basic mapping app to keep you on track. It’s doesn’t sound necessary, but shortly after going onto the Nuuanu Trail there were some tourists who had no idea where they were and they were headed up Nuuanu to Tantalus, and they may not have ended up back out on the road, so hopefully they listened to me when I pointed them back to the Judd Loop and the Pali.

There’s no dedicated parking and it can get pretty crowded on the weekends. There’s also definitely broken glass along the road near the TH, so don’t leave any valuables in the car.

On AllTrails it looks like you can pop up the Nuuanu Trail and make a bigger loop. That’s tricky and I’d say only for experienced hikers. If you want to take Nuuanu out and back, that’s fine, although it’s steep because you’re climbing up to the ridge and Tantalus, so know that. But the Makuku Ridge Trail gets a little gnarly and hard to find in the middle, although it’s really lovely just above the Judd Trail—towering pines whispering on a windy afternoon, and you’ll probably have the trail...
