Went to Cooper Spur for the first time this last weekend. I really loved the drive there from Portland to Hood River. There was plenty of parking when I pulled up. I got a half day pass and a season parking pass that’s good in multiple places for about $70. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There’s only one ski lift (and a tow rope for learning) so not crazy options compared to others on the area. That being said, I absolutely loved going here and plan on going back as soon as possible. You have a few options of difficulty to choose from. All are very spacious and offer plenty of room to feel comfortable. It’s great for beginners and intermediates. They also did a great job of clearing the lift area as you get off. All in all I can’t recommend this place enough!

Looking for a small, quiet, family ski hill that won't break the bank...you FOUND it!! This place is a throwback to yesteryears!! Don't be expecting lots of terrain or high speed lifts since there's only one fixed grip double and a short rope tow! It's a wonderful place to let the kids go free and enjoy some days of past! The people here are the best...it's like skiing at your family's place and these folks are your family. Just have reasonable expectations and enjoy stepping back in time for a bit. You'll enjoy it!

Great for families with little kids learning how to ski or snowboard. Check if they have snow before you go since It is 1000ft lower than Meadows. We liked it a lot.

If they have snow this is a fantastic place for a family with young skiers and snowboarders. We got a family pass last winter and our 5 and 9 year old had a fantastic time. There is 1 chair lift with 6 runs (kinda) and the beginner runs were a good place to start. After a few days both kids were happy going down most runs. If you can go on a Friday I'd do it as there are less people. Also keep an eye out for the junior racers practice and race schedule. It was really packed for practice and races. Last year was a great snow year but the years before they barely opened if at all. If there is a lot of early snow I think a family pass is a good idea. If they don't have a bunch of snow by Christmas, it seems like a gamble that you can get your money's worth. All in all a great place for a family weekend...

First - like other reviewers have said, do something about the parking lot and the dude running it. The guy with the Viking helmet 'directing' parking seems to spend more time being a nuisance than actually accomplishing anything. Cold temps but no snow for several days, so the parking lot is sheer ice. He's standing around telling people "You're standing on a frozen volcano" when he should be putting down some sand/salt and making some kind of walkable path to the lodge rather than everyone shuffling along on ice...immediate turn-off. Otherwise, a fun little place to ski. Lift tickets a bit overpriced for a single lift and short runs. Looks like a good beginner or starting over hill, but an intermediate skier like myself will...
