I live in Virginia and have been to this area before, but not in several years. Today a friend and I decided to visit but didn't quite make it all the way, as we got lost in the slums of Hopewell. That is what this review is here to warn you about. If you are from out of town and don't know Hopewell, this is not an area to go venturing in without a lot of caution. The area you have to drive through to get to the historic area is a nightmare of run down homes and businesses, people hanging out on the streets outside dumpy stores and it's just plain ugly. We did not feel safe and gave up trying to get to the Park. Having been to Hopewell over the years, I've never felt safe with or without my camera there. It appears to have gotten worse. When I've been to that area in the past it's never been crowded, and just seems to have a desolate feel to it. We had a feeling it might not be worth it to make the trip today, but we had no idea how fair it has fallen. E. Broadway, one of the streets that leads to City Point, use to have some nice antique stores. All are gone, and as we drove down it today, we locked the doors. The rotten cherry on top of all of this is the horrible smell from the chemical plants that drifts all over Hopewell. There are many nice and safe places to visit in Virginia, this is not...

🍏🍏🍏 It was the perfect weather for being by the 🌊 🦆🦆 🐟🐠 River. Groups of Peoples, included 🍼 babies Seniors ,etc. A fine place to exercise, relax, fish, rest, view lots of scenery in the water and on shore 🌺 🌿 ⛵ 😎 . Pack a picnic basket and bring the kids. Have Big time fun any day you go. One dollar 💵 if you want cold treat off the " ice cream truck " 🍨🍦. Be thankful for clean fun Recreation for the whole family, friends and neighbor's. Your cost , if not in walking distance is preparation, effort and enough gas in the tank round-trip. ( I love what my Heavenly Father gifts for enjoyment ) Wear your mask and be safe by the Riverside...

Love this place. It has a long dock right on the river, and the park dominates the waterfront for about a mile. It's long and narrow, and it has two giant parking lots. It is one of very few places you can go after dark. It is great place to hangout by yourself, and also always trouble to find if your're looking for it. It's never shy of new, interesting, and very fun people to meet. Especially after dark lol my girl loves this spot as well prob more than me honestly she definitely gets her "complete fill" of nature and always leaves...

Great place to launch a canoe or kayak and paddle around City Point and some of the islands in the river. Saw lots of ospreys, blue herons and fish jumping out of the water. Interesting historical markers.

Must see to appreciate.✌️ Terrific place to launch a kayak. Fishing off the Pier, is good also. Lately the park is being trashed. Such uh shame.😔

Nice place to view the Appomatics River, fish, take a nature stroll, and enjoy the outside. The day was beautiful but water was very choppy.
