We had our 5th grade summer camp here in 1976. I drove by on my way across the Winona Scenic Drive to see how much it has changed. The Arkansas State Parks will be taking over maintenance of this campground. This will improve the facility greatly.

It is a beautiful place! I use to go there as a child and it is very nostalgic for me! Everything is exactly the same as it was 40 something years ago. It has nice facilities that were clean and well maintained. There are lots of camping areas. Some have electricity and water and there is a dump station as well. It has beautiful walking trails, a swimming area, lots of places to fish from the bank, a boat launch and lots of picnic tables and grills for day use. I only have one negative thing to say which is the water had a brown tinge to it. Not sure why but it didn’t deter me from getting in and swimming! Don’t let negative comments keep you from giving this sweet place a chance. Check it out for yourself. It’s only about 40 minutes from Little Rock and 30...

I give Lake Sylvia a10. Park staff a 1. I too have been put off by the current park ranger. The man who was there for a long time, Shawn?, now he knew his stuff! He didnt cram 'the RULES' in your face. I worked for State Parks in El Dorado, at the Arboretum. Thousands of folks came through the gates. I had to use my position to enforce 'the rules' a few times over the years, (like no plastic grass during the annual Easter Egg Hunt, bad for the critters and Earth) or safety issues that would arise, i.e. sleet, lightning, etc. However, rudeness was never...

DOG OWNERS BE WARNED! The park is fabulous however the staff leave something to be desired. After driving an hour to spend the day with my dad on his birthday, the extremely rude park ranger would not allow our dog in the park; not even allowing him to sleep in the car the entire time. I understand rules in that they have to be enforced but a park ranger could have been more...
