READ THIS REVIEW! Wow! The cabins in this cute little park are fabulous. there aren’t a lot of pics of the inside of the cabins or the surrounding areas so I wanted to enlighten you to help your stay be the best it can be. If you’re considering coming to Lake Sylvia, make the reservation! These cabins are so clean and so nice and each provide a little bit of a privacy area. They all have a barbecue grill, picnic table, swinging bench on the front porch. They all have a view of the lake. However, it’s not the portion of the lake you really can swim in. It’s pretty overgrown getting from the cabin to the lake. You have to get in your car and drive to the swim Area, which is about a quarter a mile
The refrigerator is bigger than I thought and there is a little kitchenette, including a sink and little pantry. The bathroom has really nice fixtures. Everything was so clean, and the bed is even comfortable!
The cabins have six window windows with window blinds, a ceiling fan and the air conditioner works great. It’s a little dim inside the cabin. There are a couple of overhead lights, but they don’t give a lot of light.
I brought my spotlight to walk around at night and did a preliminary check throughout the cabin for spiders and bugs and didn’t find one spiderweb. These things are really clean!
You will need to bring a lot. Sheets, pillows, blankets, towels, dish towels and soap, Utensils, drinkware, hand towels, body soap. and folding chairs! A picnic table cover is nice.
Also, You cannot drive your car up to the cabin. You have to park about 50 yards away at the registration building and carry everything to the small cabins. When you get to the cabin, there is a really big wagon that you can take back to your car and unload everything.
There is a paved walking trail to the cabins. Very Nice if you have handicap people in your party that need wheelchair assistance
Cabins 1,2 and three are the first ones on the trail with cabins two and three being on the lake side of the trail
Cabins 4,5,6 and seven are in a semi circle around a really cute public fireplace area. This would be great for a little family reunion or several families to get together and each have their own cabin.
In the summer with all the leaves in the trees, you can see the lake, But I imagine in the fall winter when the trees fall off, you’ll get a really beautiful view of the lake.
Someone had a question about a playpen or baby bed. You could put a small playpen at the foot of the bed, but it would be really tight. however, you really don’t spend a lot of time inside the cabin.
There is Wi-Fi! There are no TVs. Go...
Read moreA gem tucked away just under an hour from Little Rock. Four miles down once you turn off of highway 10. Beautiful scenery. For the day use area and swim beach, use the first entrance. Second entrance is for the campground. If you hit the gravel/dirt road, you've gone too far. There are no turnarounds on the gravel road so don't get on it if you can avoid it (ask us how we know). The lake was clean and not very crowded at the swim beach. The water is about a foot deep at its shallowest and perfect for little kids. Concrete stairs lead into the water or you can just step down from the concrete wall, it's not very high. They have a wide concrete diving platform. You can use floats, inflatable rafts (one person was using a trolling motor with their raft), kayaks, canoes. No motorized boats, I don't believe the lake is big enough. We even saw people using an air mattress to float on. There is an air nozzle at the back of the restroom building that you can use to inflate floats. It's $5/car for the day use area/swim beach and is self pay at the entrance. The park gate closes at 7pm. Make sure you follow the directions on the pay envelope as the wildlife officers patrol regularly. The bathrooms were clean and had changing stalls in the women's side. There were two single handicapped bathrooms with level wide sidewalk leading to them. No showers that we saw in the main bathrooms. There are plenty of picnic tables with grills and most all are in the shade. We saw plenty of folks fishing on the other side closer to the campground area. There is also a small playground as well. Be advised that most cell service will not work out there. We had a great...
Read moreAlthough appearing rather remote, this recreational area boasts some great swimming, fishing, camping, and places to picnic. The restrooms and changing facilities are impeccable and well maintained. Safety and security seem to be a high priority as well, since you'll often find a Park Ranger "on patrol" and ready to answer any questions that arise. Unfortunately, we are obligated to leave a four star (not a five star) rating solely due to the hiking and biking trails. The potential is definitely there for some phenomenal trails in the area, mainly due to extraordinary terrain and stunning views. Illegible maps, lack of placement, and poorly manicured trails contribute to a sense of deterioration and dilapidation. This recreational area will be a must-see destination if the aforementioned issues are...
