Mountain Harbor Marina — Attraction in Hot Springs

I can’t speak for boat rentals or boat care, but I can speak to my kayak rental experience. It was a disaster. Like a life-threatening disaster. My partner and I are novice kayakers and we rented a double kayak this afternoon. Everything was great until we decided to head back to the marina. It kept getting harder and harder to move. It also became increasingly difficult not to tip over... until we did. Luckily we were wearing life vests, but it took awhile for a pontoon boat full of lovely people to spot us and pick us up. What we did not realize (although my partner suspected halfway into our trip) is that the kayak had a giant crack in it and was slowly filling up with water during our trip. The crack was also pointed out to us by the people who rescued us, and who helped dump gallons and gallons of water from the kayak. When we told the staff, they immediately knew what kayak we were talking about and said someone had tried to fix it. They never should have rented a kayak in that condition in the first place. They gave us a refund but... they could have killed someone. Not cool. I would not recommend renting kayaks from this business. And I hope that this experience is not reflective of how they treat their rental boats. Anyway, our lives were put in danger because of shoddy care and...

Regarding Boat Rentals: Nice boats but poorly maintained. We rented a pontoon boat for a couple days and though our time on the boat was a blast on beautiful Lake Ouachita, the boat was in need of attention. The speedometer and depth finder did not work. The speedometer would show 5-8 mph when in fact we were all out- likely around 25, and the depth finder never displayed a depth. The front gate would swing open once at full speed, and the first time it did this the prong hit my sons knee and bruised it. I complained about it but the service manager simply said they would look at it, without acknowledging my disappointment as though I should have expected some issues as part of the boat rental. I suppose if I had not paid nearly 1500 for 2 days (including gas & taxes) I might have had lower expectations. Again, the boat itself was higher end, but clearly they don't have a consistent process to ensure everything is in working order each time it is rented out. I would advise that you ensure it is working as promised before you get too far out from the marina, particularly given you are liable for any damage that occurs (the insurance the offer does not cover the...

My family of 9 rented a party boat from Mountain Harbor Marina and the experience was an amazing one! The check in, brief and loading were so quick and we fully enjoyed the all day boat trip. I am so appreciative to the wonderful front desk employees who were so kind, helpful and professional. The whole day went smooth and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
