Bonura Studios is AWESOME! However, I am a little biased. I'm a local artist who has started teaching classes there. But since I have the inside scoop I'll tell you all about it.
What is it? It is the home of Elizabeth Bonura's sculpture business, a small storefront, and a place to take an art class. Don't be fooled by the images of an empty field. This is a very new complex, but it does indeed exist. This space is where she does all of her personal work, so it is used for product production most of the time. But during certain time slots, she opens up the space to host a wide variety of art classes for the community and even sells supplies and works right at the front in a gallery/shop setting. You can buy tickets to classes on the website.
Can I bring my kids/pets? It's best to ask first. Responsible children and animals are welcome. It's a safety thing, this is after all still a production studio and we don't want little hands or mouths playing with sharp tools, damaging works in progress, or eating something that could be dangerous.
Is it accessible & accommodating? Yes, I would say so. The music is quiet and there is no production during class hours so there are no loud noises. The classes are small, usually 1-10 people. I will admit I don't have any mobility challenges myself, but Bonura Studios is a 1 story building with a smooth floor on the inside. The parking lot is rather large and roomy and there is 1 gender neutral bathroom with a large amount of turn around space. There isn't a button to open the door for you into the building but there is a buzzer/doorbell that I believe she prefers folks to use anyways so that she can let them in personally. The people in this space are very community driven so if you need any accommodations, you...
Read moreWhat a fun and relaxing way to spend an afternoon, Elizabeth is a great sculptor and even better instructor! I’m so pleased with how my hippo turned out, which was due in large part to how Elizabeth breaks down each part of the sculpting process and builds skills from the ground up. This class is perfect for beginners up to advanced artists who want to have more creative freedom to sculpt. Highly recommend for a fun date night, girls night, small group team building… Elizabeth says “three makes a collection” and I can’t wait to go back to make MORE hippos!!!! She has lots of different classes and workshops available, so give her...
Read moreAt first when I saw this place on Google maps, I thought it was a glitch or something, because the street view showed an empty field. Turns out that particular road hasn’t been updated in a few years XD. The studio itself is great place! The owner is a sweetheart and her place is rather well kept! I loved all the artwork on display and I love attending some art classes that she’s had there taught by other artists. The space is always welcoming and the vibe is always...
