Lucky Peak state is a 240 acres recreation area near Lucky Peak Lake. Its elevation is 2750 ft. It is only 15 minutes away from Boise.
The discovery park is just below the dam and adjacent to Sandy point. From there you can see the dam's overflow chutes. The scenery here is really beautiful. This park is the perfect place for kayaking, canoeing, bird watching and picnicking. There are shelters, picnic tables, grills and clean restroom on the spot. You can see deer and hawks at the spot.

This is a great spot for a day trip and one of my favorite places to unwind. We often come here to paddleboard, picnic, or even host small gatherings—it really has something for everyone. The water access is convenient, and the park provides plenty of space to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Nice place to take a dip but be warned, the water is cold and it's busy out there, lots of people recreating! Even better it's free to park with an Idaho State Parks Pass!
