Ideal Location for Paddleboarding, Picnics, and Gatherings This is a great spot for a day trip and one of my favorite places to unwind. We often come here to paddleboard, picnic, or even host small gatherings—it really has something for everyone. The water access is convenient, and the park provides plenty of space to relax and enjoy the outdoors. If you plan to visit more than once or explore other state parks, I highly recommend purchasing the annual State Parks pass for your vehicle—it pays for itself quickly and makes returning hassle-free.

Love this park! There are bathrooms and some picnic tables with trees for shade. I even found two close enough to be able to hang my hammock! Rental shack for paddleboards and stuff. Nice place to take a dip but be warned, the water is cold and it's busy out there, lots of people recreating! Even better it's free to park with an Idaho State Parks Pass! But there may not be any parking because of the parks popularity! I will definitely be back!

Another favorite area of mine due to the myriad of things to see and do here such as riding bikes or walking on the greenbelt, watch huge jets of water flowing from Lucky Peak Dam, float on the Boise River, play horseshoes, have picnics, hike on trails in the area, view geology, and the list goes on...

Lucky Peak state is a 240 acres recreation area near Lucky Peak Lake. Its elevation is 2750 ft. It is only 15 minutes away from Boise.

The discovery park is just below the dam and adjacent to Sandy point. From there you can see the dam's overflow chutes. The scenery here is really beautiful. This park is the perfect place for kayaking, canoeing, bird watching and picnicking. There are shelters, picnic tables, grills and clean restroom on the spot. You can see deer and hawks at the spot.

I used to go there with my friends for picnic. The calm beautiful scenery from the park is just mesmerizing. If you are in Boise, It is a must...
