This is a jaw-dropping sight to be standing on the viewing bridge over the falls. If you aren't fond of heights, this might not be for you, but believe me, it's worth a look. I remember coming here when I was 7. The road used to pass right by the cliffs where thousand springs emerged from the ground and could be seen cascading down the face of the rocks. The aquifer that replenishes these springs fluctuates from drought and high water years. Another reason for the fluctuations, is the amount of water being drawn from the aquifer for irrigation and new homes in the area, which has had a dramatic impact on the flow of water in the artesian springs. It's worth a stop if you're in the area. As always, leave no trace, leave it better than you found it,...
Read moreI've always loved stopping here on our trips through the area. It is a state park, so a $5 entry fee applies (if you can make it to another state park in the same day, they will honor your $5 entry fee, doubling your value. A quick Google search for Idaho state parks will show you other parks that will honor that.). However, it is an impressive and fantastic geological site with good history. I Definitely recommend crossing the footbridge and going out to the western lookout to get a good view of the gorge and the waterfall under the bridge. My only critique is that some of the information panels at the lookout are water damaged and illegible. Otherwise, this is a great place to take children to enjoy some of the...
Read moreI was born and raised in Idaho. I have never stopped to see this park. I have driven by 1000 times. It was worth stopping to see. The overlook is beautiful. Hold onto your hat and cell phone. The wind blows pretty good up this canyon. The outdoor visitor center was really nice. We were the only people there. We found a backpack that appeared left behind. We walked around to the bathroom and a sherriff was there. We reported the backpack to him. He went to check it out. This place has a very nice expansive picnic area with tables and bbq stands. The bathroom was standard park issue but was nice and clean. There was an RV park nearby. Also 1000 Springs, Banbury & Miracle hot springs are just 15...
