1.57 miles on the longest trail up table rock, it would be the far left one at the gate, the one where you start off by walking away from table rock then turn towards it facing it. The 1.57 is only one way fyi so double that if you take the same trail heading back down. By far my favorite little hike right behind Boise. Great veiw of our city from the top. Always a good number of ppl on the trail during all times and days of the week. This is also just one of many trail you can choose from, there are plenty of others as you head up that you can take to explore and extend you hike if you'd like. Again I highly suggest this hike if you are not from the Boise area and are just visiting looking for a fun, quick outdoor activity that gives you an almost breathing view of Boise, specially if you get up there early enough to watch the sun...
Read moreIf you like the great outdoors this is one of the best trails to hike, bike or run! You have the opportunity to see the wild sunflowers growing in big batches on all sides of the mountain, hawks sorrowing over top of you, kill deer birds flying over and diving quickly to the ground like torpedoes! That isn’t even the best part... The incredibly friendly towns people sharing there smiles back and forth toward each other. People on this trail are completely kind to the fullest. Just wait till you make it to the very top and feel the gratification of climbing that mountain to the cross and making sure you put your hand on that cross just to take it all in! Take your friends and family and encourage each other every step of the way! I will stop going on but definitely a must do...
Read moreGreat, short(ish) hike that is fairly populated. Folks should know that: 1) a lot of locals and their off-lead dogs hike here (and are super friendly); 2) we did the ascent in 30 minutes and it's a good short heart ❤️ pumper in portions; and 3) if it's been raining, the Old Pen track can be super silty/slick/steep in parts; if it's been dry, it's super dusty/slide-y. Because of the latter, we chose to head right ("Old Pen Trail") at the start of the hike to take the steep parts on the ascent, and take the upper trail (Table Rock #15) on the descent (more rocks, less slippery). We did this as a brief hike before a long car ride home, but next time we'll explore the off-shoots (quarry trail, tram trail, etc) and make it longer. Views of Boise and mountain ranges in distance...
