A wonderful quarter-dropping classic arcade. No tokens, no cards, no tickets, just good old-fashioned quarters. This place does not focus on claw machines or ticket games. This is an arcade with a strong emphasis on video games and pinball. Honestly, I think Arcadia has more pinball machines than even the Galloping Ghost Arcade does. It definitely has more old pinball machines, with some dating from the 50s through the 70s. Mechanical score keeping, electric buzzing when hitting the flippers, and even manual ball dropping with levers. They have some real history pieces for pinball aficionados here. Video games from multiple decades and even a few from Japan. The action on the joysticks and buttons is as good as you can expect from games as old as these. They are pretty well maintained. Love testers, jukeboxes, fortune telling machines, foosball tables, and air hockey. This place has a little bit of everything from the arcades of old. This place may not be as big as the Galloping Ghost, but it is well worth the trip if you loved the arcades from the 50s...
Read moreI can't tell you all enough how much I enjoyed Arcadia: America's Playable Arcade Museum in McLean IL.!!!!!! I went with a buddy and his family who all loved it just as much as I did !!! There are literally two full buildings of pinball and arcade games. All of them were under a dollar to play, with the majority only being. 50 cents a game. We spent hours playing all the games that made me feel like I was at the Aladdins Castle Arcade at the old Pekin Mall while my mom shopped. We plan on going again and I plan on making it a regular rotation on my weekend day trips for sure !!! Plus with Weldon Springs State Recreation Area nearby just outside of Clinton IL. I can tie it in with a camping trip as well. This soon to be 44 year old felt like school just let out and it was summer at the arcade again...
Read moreWe stopped here for an hour to get out and stretch our legs as we were on a long road trip -- BEST STOP EVER. We loved introducing our kids to all sorts of classic games, and with the games being so reasonable (most $0.25-$1.00), it was easy on the wallet. The bathrooms were clean and the layout was really family friendly. When my youngest wanted to keep playing one particular game over and over, I could usually find a game nearby that I wanted to play as well. Plus, we were all standing for an hour which was a break from all the sitting in the car. :) Don't forget to check out the jukebox as you walk in too!
(Yes, I loved this place so much that I'm posting this review on a few different sites. If we lived closer, it would actually be a serious threat to our supply of quarters around...
