I visited during the work day, in the Spring, and it was very cold. It was a very nice area though low laying which led to lots of top water. I imagine after rain it would be pretty muddy. The pond does have fish in it and I saw some boys pull up a good size fish from the water though not sure what regulations there are... there was plenty of parking. I give it a 4 only because I wish the playground was bigger.

Nice forest preserve for walking or biking. Connects to Captain Wright’s FP on other side, which allows for more options. Plenty of parking and several shelters for gatherings. Dogs allowed. Bathrooms, when open. Because it is next to the Des Plaines River it can get muddy and soggy. If it has rained a lot be prepared to have parts with standing water and sides of trail super muddy.

I love this place. It is very well maintained by staff. Always someone working the grounds. Restrooms are immaculate for Outdoor ones. You can Horse back ride, walk, job, playground for the kids. Clean Pavilions everywhere. Awesome place to walk the Dogs! Poop bag stations on the trails. Fishing. It's a days adventure for all ages and levels of exercise. Be it sitting in sun or shade or working out. The scenery is beautiful and the trails are nice to walk, ride, bike, jog, or horseback. Also cross-country in winter. Open year round. You will not be disappointed. Pack up the family ,friends& pets and go have a great day....

There was a wedding reception (dinner and dancing) held in Shelter A and B of this forest preserve. As a former Illinois resident I thought the wedding party would be uncomfortable, given this time of year. But I was wrong!

Both the weather and surroundings were beautiful; I heard they sprayed for insects beforehand as well. Many picture opportunities. Open enough to enjoy the rest of reserve and share the good vibes with passersby. Some bees came out but only when we were already packing up.

Maybe more available parking spaces would've been nice. Other than that, it was...

Beautiful any time of the year with plenty of opportunities to see wild life. I love this side of the preserves because there are so many options for wandering around, for long and short hikes. The grass trails are amazing for avoiding bicycles. Half day pond is always beautiful at sunset. The far south end is also beautiful, at Half Day Pits I’ve seen bald eagles and turkey vultures looking for food. For a longer hike, I love crossing the Des Plaines River into Captain Daniel Wright Woods and following the yellow trail...
