Mastodon State Historic Site Playground — Attraction in Imperial Township

Lots of different options here. There is a playground with tons of green space for picnics and pavilions for parties. There are trails as well that are some of the best in the StL immediate area. The best part is the creek that runs through the southern side of the area. Most of it is only inches deep and the current is very slow. Great for little kids.

On a good, hot day, the creek is going to get very crowded but still highly recommend it. We came on a Sunday morning, hit the creek about 10 and the crowd was light. Loved this place since a kid only sad thing is people breaking rocks on the trails for gets. There not on the trails and ypu make it unsafe for the runners and fast people. Noticed people throw down cigarettes its fall we love the park don't burn it down tear it up or ruin our ability to get to come here and wonder without ropes and guides.
