There needs to be more signs! This was my first time to this area. A guide book mentioned there were picnic tables and restrooms. Parking is a concern, the lot at the trailhead has about 15 spots, one handicap and was full by 8:30. Most visitors park precariously on the side of the road for miles in each direction. 2 Porta Potties are available, restroom closed. There is one trail sign, we followed it bit didn't arrive at Chimney Beach, but went south instead to Secret Cove, after going down steps to the waters edge. This is posted as a nude beach, and many visitors were sans-clothing. It was a beautiful cove and we enjoyed out visit, but got lost returming to the parking lot because no...

Small parking lot that fills up and cycles through. We took the lower route to Secret Cove and Whale Beach, it was one of the most rewarding hikes at Lake Tahoe with many views of the lake. The trail itself is easy to moderate with a few mini scrambles, it's all downhill there and an easy fire road back. Pit toilet at the parking lot is there if you really have to go. Random port a let near Whale Beach. There are multiple paths that veer off, I'm sure they all will take you there, I found AllTrails to be particularly useful. The views are great and...

We ended up at Chimney Beach Trailhead while looking for a beach in the area.

Unbeknownst to us, and something to definitely keep in mind is that this is definitely a moderately difficult hike/trail - with an absolutely stunning beach to enjoy at the bottom of it.

The trail itself has no signage, and is very windy with many different options to get (lost) to different sections of the beach 🏝️. As with many of the other beaches in the area… It was super clean and clear waters, and an amazing lake view...

A challenging, yet rewarding trail. With almost 1800 ft elevation throughout the trail, you’d better be prepared for the climb. It eventually leads to a beautiful lake, which is exhilarating. Make sure you have enough water and snacks with you. Parking is free, but very limited. Don’t worry about washrooms, since there are some near the parking lot. Oh, did I mention that it’s free :)

This is a great stop to take in the views, and gives trail access to Chimney Beach. Parking is limited here, but it is free. The trail down to the beach is well developed, but steep, rocky, and slippery in places. Be prepared for a difficult hike both ways. Wear good shoes and take plenty of water. The beach is spectacular, but it takes some work to get there!
