There needs to be more signs! This was my first time to this area. A guide book mentioned there were picnic tables and restrooms. Parking is a concern, the lot at the trailhead has about 15 spots, one handicap and was full by 8:30. Most visitors park precariously on the side of the road for miles in each direction. 2 Porta Potties are available, restroom closed. There is one trail sign, we followed it bit didn't arrive at Chimney Beach, but went south instead to Secret Cove, after going down steps to the waters edge. Read moreSmall parking lot that fills up and cycles through. We took the lower route to Secret Cove and Whale Beach, it was one of the most rewarding hikes at Lake Tahoe with many views of the lake. The trail itself is easy to moderate with a few mini scrambles, it's all downhill there and an easy fire road back. Pit toilet at the parking lot is there if you really have to go. Unbeknownst to us, and something to definitely keep in mind is that this is definitely a moderately difficult hike/trail - with an absolutely stunning beach to enjoy at the bottom of it.
The trail itself has no signage, and is very windy with many different options to get (lost) to different sections of the beach 🏝️. As with many of the other beaches in the area… It was super clean and clear waters, and an amazing lake view...
