Secret Cove Parking — Local services in Carson City

This is a very small parking lot given the high visitor use. This has led to traffic safety issues with people just parking on the side of the highway. Worst of all, the bathroom was horribly disgusting. There was poop and garbage everywhere. Even the bears probably would hold their noses and gag.

If you are planning on going to the Secret Cove Beach, also keep in mind that it is one of the few clothing optional beaches at Tahoe. So if that's a concern for you, know that it's very likely that there will be naked people there.

For all these reasons, two stars is the best I can rate it. And that's because it's Tahoe and it's beautiful. But you can say that about almost any beach at Tahoe, and not have to deal with the disgusting mess...

Yes, parking lot is small but you can get parking before 10 am and a lot of cars were parked on the street outside the parking lot so there is parking.

Parking lot itself is far from the beaches. It’s a long hike down/up the hill to the beaches. If you have a lot of bags or items to carry, then the hike is not recommended. We saw people take a path to walk a 1 mile to the Whale Cove and Secret Cove beach, we could not find the trial from this parking to the Chimney Beach as the trails did not have clear direction.

The views are nice, the hike down is ok, can be unstable because you are mixing sand on rocks, the hike up was rough even though it’s only .25 mile. The bathrooms are disgusting!!!! No toilet paper, floors got shit and piss all over there and it’s disgusting. Get there early to park, otherwise the locals come in and go kayaking or paddle boarding all day and don’t allow others...
