Beautiful place! I hiked the perimeter of the lake, except for a short jaunt into the woodsy area. A train was passing by during my hike, which I personally loved. I spent some time just watching the train, it was really peaceful. Muddy in places right now. The ice melting and moving makes a noise, which I did not know but learned here, very cool. There were additional trails going into the woodsy areas, so I will have to return. Parts of the lake have more trash than others. It would be cool to do a cleanup day, removing the old tires alone would be so much. Well taken care of place, none of the trash seems very fresh; it's was probably a place people dumped trash back in the day.

I also found a tazer on the ground, looked like the strap broke. If it was yours, I set it on the...

Nice for a quick trip to paddle around for a while. The park is decent, but I wish it was a little less primitive. Flush toilets would be nice, and I'd like to see some designated picnic areas/shelters. The park could also do with some more frequent patrols by the DNR/park staff. Most people are good about taking care of their trash, but I always see bait containers and cigarette butts all around the perimeter of the lake, and frequently broken glass on the boat ramp. Today a bunch of idiots were on the far side of the lake shooting off fireworks, which their off-leash dog tried to chase. No doubt someone else will have to clean up after that, and so much for enjoying the sounds of nature. During the rare times that no one else is around, though, it's...

The lake is great for catfish in early morning and early evening. Bass hit out in the deep areas on minnow lures close to surface and sometimes on frog like lures. It's always a given to use a night crawler and get the bass. Worm lures work as well, yet consider the time of year. I caught this bass on a fresh live crawler that was from the Little sporting goods store on 16th street. Genoes maybe?!?! Just south of south street. Great place for bait and tackle. The main lake is a wonderful spot to boat and catch catfish. However bluegill and bass are best found in the back lake. I love the place. It's very peaceful, yet right at the edge of town. Catch yourself a gar... in the main lake, it's fun to attempt to land. Very exciting in...

For years since noticing the lake off 52, I always thought it would be cool if they turned it into a park not knowing that’s exactly what they’re were doing! Just happened to turn into it out of curiosity after passing by and seeing the small park entrance sign lol.
