Replying to @MamaTrader There were over 500 US POW camps in the US during WW2. By the end of the confiict ovet 425,000 prisoners of war has been hiused in these facilities. Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh, Indiana was one of them #e#edinburghi#indianap#powcampw#ww2h#historicalfictionh#historybuffh#historytokh#historical_storiesb#booktok

Keep your expectations average withe the museum. It's realtivly small in terms of square footage, modest in regards to the content. The good side is that it has a unique perspective with many of the exhibits because it's dedicated to the Army camp. There are some interesting things to look at as well. Although not as interactive as some people might like. If Tim is there ask him there ask him about his experience in the army. He has some stories!

I understand this is likely run by volunteers but extremely unprofessional and disappointing to find it closed at about 1pm on a Saturday despite google maps, their website, and the signs outside the building stating they are open 10-2pm Saturdays.

If you like American military history, well worth the visit. I came because my father was released from the army after WW2 at Camp Atterbury. After 3 years in the Pacific, I am sure Atterbury looked like heaven. Nice little museum here. Has a decent story about the 92nd Division, the Buffalo Soldiers. Lots of period stuff, uniforms, weapons, and such. The Memorial Park, about 170 yds up the road, has a static display of military equipment. And it is less than 5 miles from a huge Outlets Mall in Edinburgh. Kill two hirds with...

Exhaustingly good Army museum of not only the camp, but of Army military life through its years. Very well put together with an incredible collection. Docent gave great information as well. Handicap accessible. Double check the times, and you'll need about an hour, then head outside for the static machinery/vehicle/aircraft display....
