We had a fantastic visit to St Meinrad Archabbey and had a wonderful unscheduled tour by Molly, who was extremely knowledgeable and great with the kids. It can be challenging to navigate the enormous campus, there wasn’t an obvious welcome center or visitors reception -that we found- so we ended up wandering around until we met Molly. The grounds are beautiful and each room is filled with interesting discoveries and rich history. The highlight of our visit was the corridor of portraits of Mary from different cultural perspectives. Would strongly...

I do believe this is the most beautiful place on earth! Can't wait to come back again. Our Retreat last week was awesome! I first came here when I was in the area at a work conference. Loved it so much i came back for morning prayer and Mass the next two days. Later I got to come down as a chaperone with two of my sons on a school trip. It was great to share their first time at Saint Meinrad with them. Later we were camping with the boy scouts and brought them to a Sunday Mass before we picked up and...

My recommendation is don’t go to a mass if you have young kids. Even if the staff at the visitor center invite you. The grounds are lovely and the building is beautiful. Most everyone was extreme polite.

The church echoes so if you go and your baby makes normal happy infant noises you will be asked to leave. (Which is okay. Just personally mortifying even if you drove an hour to get clothes and got up early to make it on time.) Go to the Lincoln Boyhood Memorial 10 minutes...

Saint Meinrad Archabbey ⛪️ One of only two Archabbeys in the United States, and one of only eleven across the world - Saint Meinrad is a Benedictine Monastery with more than 60 monks living, working and praying here. It was founded in 1854 by monks in Switzerland who came to Southern Indiana at the request of a local priest. Saint Meinrad is revered in Catholicism as the “Martyr of Hospitality.” In 861, he was murdered by robbers who came to his hermitage. Although he invited them in for food & drink, he was killed, and the robbers fled in fear, taking nothing. The public is invited to tour the Archabbey grounds for free. Our family really enjoyed the beauty of the buildings & grounds, reflecting on the history and connecting with God. Its just 15 minutes from Santa Claus, Indiana 📍 @Santa Claus Indiana #saintmeinrad #archabbey #indiana
