Subject: Request for Update on Park Closing Hours

Dear Park Management/Rangers,

I’m writing to request that the park’s posted hours be updated to reflect the actual closing time when gates are locked. During my recent visit, I completed a skate session around 9:30 PM, only to find that I had been locked inside the park, preventing me from leaving with my vehicle.

The sign on-site clearly states a 10 PM closing time, and the website reflects the same information. However, my experience suggests that gates may be locked earlier, which led to a significant inconvenience as I had to leave my car overnight. I reached out to the Richland County Police Department non-emergency line, but they couldn’t assist, as they lack the gate key. Additionally, my car was the only vehicle in the lot and should have been visible to whoever was locking up.

Please consider ensuring that the gates are locked at the posted 10 PM time or, if this isn’t possible, updating the hours accordingly. This clarification would help avoid similar situations for other park visitors in the future.

I’m still a beginner skater but it’s been a great experience every time I’ve gone. The skate park is clean, the concrete is smooth, the people are nice and welcoming , and there’s a good variety of obstacles. Irmo Skate Park is finally here. I emerged from the woods foraging for berries to find this concrete structure with many enthusiasts enjoying the layout. It is perfect for beginners up to intermediate. I myself am past my prime physical performance and this park feels more fitting for my abilities.
