I visited Rainbow Falls in Ironwood, Michigan, in June, and it was a great experience. The trail to the falls is a moderately challenging 0.4-mile out-and-back route that takes about 13 minutes to complete. The hike through the lush forest is accompanied by the soothing sounds of the Black River, making it a peaceful and enjoyable journey. One of the highlights of the hike is the staircase that leads down to the falls. Although there are quite a few steps, they are in good condition and the effort is well worth it. The view of the waterfall cascading down the rocks is breathtaking, and it's a perfect spot to take a break and enjoy the serene surroundings. This hike made me feel connected to nature and gave me a deep appreciation for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula. The views along the trail and at the falls are awe-inspiring, and it's a great reminder of the importance of preserving our natural landscapes. I would highly recommend bringing plenty of water and starting the hike early to avoid the crowds and fully enjoy the experience. Overall, Rainbow Falls is a must-visit for anyone who loves hiking and nature. It's a beautiful and rewarding hike that offers stunning views and a chance to connect with the...

Remember, if you walk until your kids get tired you walked too far: you still have to walk back! Download the area in google maps farther than you need( I did the whole UP) so you can navigate when you don’t have Verizon signal. Keep some waters and granola bars in the bag with bug spray, and always keep your gas tank greater than half full when...
Read moreI have always viewed this waterfall by parking at the lot off of Black River road, and hiking the short hike in. I will tell you, that it not the way to view these falls! Go all the way down the park at the end of the road. Cross the bridge, and head towards the water. You will see a sign, and a hill. Walk up that hill, and start your trek back down along the river. It is a much further hike, but you get an amazing above view of the falls! I suggested doing both hikes if you...
