This park is extremely well maintained by the city and shelter it shares a parking lot with. There are 4 pods, 2 for small dogs and 2 for large dogs that alternate every 6 months so the grass can grow back and the city can make improvements. There are a group of regulars who go that you'll almost always see out there, they typically sit in camping chairs and are friendly to non-regulars and new people. There are 3 park-style benches, two of which are covered and on concrete slabs, plus a few rocks that are large enough to sit on. There is a main drinking fountain for dogs & people, and plenty of doggie bag dispensers attached to the fences. I have yet to head over there and not see at least a couple of dogs playing (even during Cowboys games).
Really the only downside is that there is no lighting in any of the pods (except for ambient lighting from the parking lot), so the park "closes" at sundown. In my experience, people usually stay after dark for a little while, but those folks usually have small lights on their...
Read morePeople here take aggressive dogs knowing how they are and don’t keep them on a leash. Went this weekend took my baby (1 yr old bully-pit) he is not aggressive what so ever! 2 dogs with different owners attacked my dog. Luckily right now he seems fine just a bite mark on his cheek. I advised one of the person inside the “Irving shelter” which is right next to the park they really didn’t do much but advised to take him to the vet.... Regardless of the horrible experience there’s 2 parks (2big dog sides 2 small dogs sides) but only 1 of them is opened. I decided to try this one out since it seemed bigger than the one I usually go to in Carrollton. Big mistake in coming here. I’m going to do keep going to the Carrollton one. If you end up coming here PLEASE be careful...
Read moreI stand corrected. The last time I reviewed this park I had come at least four times. Then I went at primetime. It was Friday the 14th @ 6-7pm then Sunday Jan 17th from 3-4pm. It was a vibe. Great dogs great people. I felt like Ted Danson from Cheers on his first day on the job. Everyone knew each other. I feel like if I keep going that I will join the regular groups of fur loving people. The major thing for me was that the dogs I encountered before were mean and this time everything and everyone was great. There were no aggressive dogs but attentive and positive owners. Best of all the back pods don’t have...
