The broken glass is killing me. Riding from Trinity View Park until the sidewalk section on Shady Grove before you get back on the trail at the golf course then have a great ride until you cross McArthur and parallel Hunter Ferrell until the trail turns towards the horsetrack there is broken glass everywhere. It must be a drunk idiot sport to chug your beer then throw out the bottle like a hand grenade and watch it explode on the sidewalk. Getting so I'm riding in the road now to avoid the glass. Can't see any way to improve this scene. The parks people are great at keeping the trail clean and landscaped and they clean the side walls now and then, there's just no way to keep up with the pendejos.
When Google prompts me to review Trinity View Park, I'm here because this is the trailhead for Campion Trail South which intersects the Trinity Skyline Trail and the Lone Star Trail near the horse track to the west. Taken all in you've got a contiguous 40 miles to ride. Trinity View is where I park and mount up. Sidewalk sections of the trail can be littered with broken beer bottles thrown by drunk driving cretins following most weekends so watchful caution is needed. The city does clean these now and then but I get tire cuts around every 6 rides, and I do this trail lots. But, it's an enjoyable ride and a good workout and one of the longest trails in the county many don't know of.
Baked by the sun, driven by the snow, every time I ride these trails for fun, I'm still willin', to keep movin' (Apologies to Lowell George). But! For as large an athletic complex as this is there are no water fountains!
Bit muddy today. A temporary trail feeder has been opened to continue the Lone Star throughput west of Belt Line. It's kinda primitive but cool and appreciated they'd lay in a mile of trail while a big utilities...
Read moreI participate in baseball tournaments held at TVP. Overall, the fields are fine and the bathroom is usually stocked with TP. I would highly recommend improvements to the softball fields (Yellow, Red, Green, Blue!?). Ball return boxes, while very glad to have, are in need of a floor on which to set balls (red field). Foul fly balls here are a regular problem, constantly coming down over spectator viewing areas from all directions. TVP is not alone, among parks that ought to focus on an budget for improvements. Tournament Directors/Staff are bombarded with complaints about fields they merely rent out for their events. Hopefully, City of Irving can make some easy fixes that will improve the already exciting experience at...
Read moreLove walking or biking the trail adjacent to the park. There are baseball, soccer and cricket fields in the park. The weekends can be crazy busy, and parking can be a chore. During the week there is very little activity. Lately there have been several homeless people sleeping on the picnic tables. A few of them have been aggressive. There are several water fountains in the park and none of them work. There are several port-a-potties and are surprisingly well maintained. The grounds are also very well maintained. There are plenty of large trees that provide plenty of shade! If there are grills for bar-b-queuing, I have yet to find one, but it is a...
