You definitely need a jeep to get there, the road down to the parking area is a bit steep and very rocky. There is a small hike down a hill from the parking area that's a little rough and rocky, we did it in flip flops and it was manageable but I did wish I had thrown on a pair of sneakers. We were completely alone on the beach until we were packing up and 1 other vehicle pulled in.white sand beach, very gentle waves, doesn't get too deep too fast,a bit rocky in the water so wear water shoes is you have tender feet. We didn't see any fish the day we went but It could have just been an off day for them. Some sargassum was on the beach but it wasn't unmanageable. It's a natural occurrence during certain times of year, it can be a bit stinky but on Playa Pata Prieta it wasn't an issue really. I would absolutely reccomend checking this beach out if you're on vieques for any length of time. It'll definitely be on my list of beaches to return to.

Short drive off the main road (~0.3 miles) to a small parking lot. Road itself is pretty rough and only wide enough to fit one car so we were lucky that no one was coming in the other direction when we were on it. You can probably get away with 2WD on this road but we were happy to have had 4WD. Once parked, it is a short walk down a gravely hill/path that empties out onto the beach. Beach was clean and the water was very clear and calm. Shade is pretty tough to come by - there is some space further off the water under some trees but they were already claimed by other people.

The beach is harder to get to. There’s a very narrow and rocky road going to the beach compared to all other beaches. So it makes me feel a bit nervous driving. But probably because of that, the beach is nice the quiet. It’s pretty peaceful too even though it’s rough in other beaches. The only problem is that it doesn’t have much shades. There are no palm trees. Only ordinary tree/bushes.

Beautiful large sandy beach. Lots of space to spread out and call your own. It was nearly empty until about 10:30 am but the smaller parking lot 8-10 cars max) kept it from getting too crowded even just after lunch time. Most people stayed close to the beach entrance near the parking lot, so if you are looking for a patch to call your own walk a ways to your right. The beach is protected so the surf is very light rolling waves which only break a few feet from shore. Lovely for floating on the water and the bottom is very sandy all the way out to enhance the clear turquoise waters of the...
