Great beach for families, younger kids in particular. Nice soft, clean sand. Very gentle slope into the water. You can walk out a hundred yards before the water is over your head most days. The shallowness and the enclosing arms on either side of the cove result in the water being warmer than most beaches. The town grooms the beach so there is little or no seaweed. Very nice views of the open space and farmland on Beavertail to the right, older shingle style cottages to the left, and Rhode Island Sound straight ahead. It's a fun place to watch sailboats and power yachts crossing the sound, or on their way into or out of Newport. Many good stones and was overall pretty clean. I walked over to the side without the parking lot but this area has more beach grass and large stony croppings.
