The Secret Garden — Local services in Jamestown

This review is long overdue but very much warranted—we worked with The Secret Garden for our November 2023 wedding at St. Mary’s Church (Bristol) and Rosecliff Mansion (Newport).

It was an absolute pleasure working with David & The Secret Garden team to plan our florals for our wedding. David was so friendly, kind, and resourceful! from our very first phone call, David had so many ideas and advice, but was also so receptive to our vision for the flowers. We never felt like David was pushing us to “over order”—he was on a mission to capture exactly what we wanted. He was even able to source and rent specific vases and candle holders that we wanted and had seen in our inspiration pictures (but he didn’t have in his standard stash of supplies) so that our wedding could be perfect.

He was very responsive and accommodating throughout the planning process, making sure every last detail was nailed. We made several changes to our arrangements and David always quickly and accurately updated our proposal. We also really appreciated that David clearly communicated any changes to our price quote based on changed that we made, and ensured that we were signed off on any changes before moving forward. He also regularly gave us the option that if we weren’t comfortable with a quote for a specific request, he could “scale up or down” based on our budget. We also had received quotes from multiple florists, and we felt that The Secret Garden prices were extremely reasonable and we got a tremendous “bang for our buck”!

David and his team were extremely efficient with the set up, and they were able to transition many of the arrangements used in the church to the venue to be used again. David was strategic in helping us design floral arrangements that could be used for multiple purpose (e.g., reusing the large vases from the church for our dessert table, using the bridesmaids bouquets on cocktail tables). He was also extremely helpful with breakdown, and he and his team even reused our pieces and set them up at our brunch the next day so we could continue to enjoy the flowers. They did an excellent job and we can’t recommend them highly enough!

David and the team at Secret Garden were a dream to work with. We had our wedding at Rosecliff on 4/21 and from the first meeting David had a wonderful understanding of our vision. On our first meeting, David had a mockup of an arrangement that was almost identical to the ones on my Pinterest board. We talked at length about the kinds of flowers what would be in season for our wedding, our wedding colors, and his recommendations on how to make the most of our venue.

David and the team were very amenable to tweaks and changes leading up to the wedding, and the final result was gorgeousl!! The flowers were fresh and so elegantly arranged. And most importantly, they were exactly what I had pictured in my head.

Finally, one of the things I also appreciated about Secret Garden was their commitment to being budget-conscious and making the most of out of arrangements so there was as little waste as possible. We reused arrangements from the ceremony space in the cocktail hour/reception and the team made these transitions with no hesitation.
