Beautiful place that takes us back to the 19th century, in the always refreshing and calm town of Jayuya. The museum has a vast collection of ancient artifacts of the time, memorabilia and interesting information to learn about those who inhabited this site and the history of Puerto Rico in the 19th and 20th centuries. A mandatory stop if you visit the beautiful town of Jayuya. Take a chance and visit the Cemí Museum and Batey Hayuya (all in the same space)

Small museum with rich history. The structure is a replica of the original house of Nemesio Canales who was a very important figure in the history of PR. Cost is 1$ per person and when the greet you they give you a bit of information; afterwards you tour the place on your own. In the premises they have Nemesios Canales last resting place. Keep in mind the there operations hours are from 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm. Parking is free.

Went on a weekday, we went in and saw the beautiful monuments, would have loved for someone to tell me about the house and its history, ended up googling it, other than that its a very beautiful and historic place to visit if you really wanna know about Puerto Rico’s history. Check out ILE lives performance there on youtube!

This was a nice surprise since I went to see the Cemí and the house and museum are in the same park. The house is surrounded by beautiful grounds and mountains on the background. It’s a small museum full of history. The lady that welcomed us gave us a brief history of Nemesio and his family. It wasn’t crowed so we had time to enjoy every detail of the house and it’s history. Getting to the park from the south of the island was a plus since the views from the mountains are incredible specially of Dos Lagos in the town of Villalba....
